To those running alt accounts on the xbox, how would one set one up?

On your Xbox controller, press the big shiny X and go to the left-hand profile menu. Choose +add new. Set up the account and play Elite with it.

Thanks, i will try that once the servers are back up, does the new account start you from the beginning in a Sideinder ot do you have all the credits, ranks and ships from the other account and if so, does either account affect the other please?

You'll start in a Sidewinder with 1,000 credits. The accounts are independent, they won't affect each other

someone told me this second account would be limited to solo only unless I had a second gold pass to go open with, is this correct?

@ No NorMonsta you will be able to access all of the online stuff ( open play / multiplayer ) with both accounts ( me and my twin bruv started new accounts to play permadeath in our tricked out Sideys ) .

@ Meado' iirc you are 'at' the 'right place', methinks there are youtube videos that take you through the 'process' .

I created a gmail address for my alt account. Worked like a charm.

I can't remember if it defaults to 'on', but there is also an option under managing your gold subscription to allow sharing. Forget the actual value, maybe just gold sharing .... but make sure it is on so that all profiles on the Xbox can access online content.

You can also use the family preferences in the settings menu to share games and privileges. I created another account this week with a view to hopping on the Gnosis.

I use my second account for exploration and once I've explored enough to use my cartographic data to unlock as many engineers as I can im gonna use that account to be a pirate
