To viper or not to viper

That Viper mk 2 concept ship appears size wise to be 4 or 5 times larger when compared to the new Viper mk 3. Maybe the bigger Viper ship will also be ingame at a later date, perhaps as a mk 4 version instead.

We can hope.

Probably forget the earlier concept picture. The latest one for the mk3 is what the coppers are getting, and the two ships look too similar to BOTH be in the game. So I'm willing to guess that this is dead and buried. ;)

Yeah, that is what I gathered.
I would pay for it in an expansion pack though, if it was a larger brother of the the new 88.
But I love the new Viper Mk3 too.

If all the designs look as good as the current ones I will have a hard time to make a choice. I will have to force myself to make decisions strictly based on functionality. I will probably become a collector because I want them all.

I've seen the new Viper sneak peak and it looks fine for a smaller ship and fits the concept of a standardized law enforcement vessel, though it doesn't get me excited to pilot it. I'm hoping that the earlier large Viper concept is still planned to be in the game - I am very much a fan of the design and think it would be good for a medium sized well rounded vessel.

Just noticed that the design of the new Viper appears asymmetrical - wonder what the large pod on the left-hand side of the ship is meant to be about?*Edit* Or is it just foreshortening and the ship is symmetrical, and I need new glasses? :S

Its mostly symmetrical (the pod that you see in the bottom left of the image is an engine nacelle I think), the only thing changing in that pic is the sensor/comms antennas. ;)

Yeah, those coms areal seem to replace the cargo doors that was there before.

Maybe FD are holding their playing cards close to their chest. Maybe the new mk3 viper is in fact a "nose cone" installed at the front end of the viper mk2 concept ship, that can detach itself from the rest of the ship in the event of trouble. Just like it was done in the Star Trek movie here. ;)

2 ships for the price of one!

Would make for an interesting "escape pod" as well. :)

New glasses it is :). The ship is symmetrical. There is an engine pod on either side of the ship.

I think we can see a python here between the asp and the anaconda.

Just guessing though.

What is the orange ship near the bottom right?
