To whoever that did this station's announcer voice....

Where abouts in the Galaxy is that accent from?

I like the broad Northern lass myself.

Xuangu system, nearest Imperial system I could find on my way back from Planet Wilson (wanted to raise my status with Empire by selling Exploration Data). The accent is distinctly Singaporean/Malaysian, when we speak normal English and not Singlish :) Esp the word "decorum"... we tend to say it as "deh-cor-rum" instead of the usual "dee-corum" that westerners say. Nice to know Singapore survives all the way to 3303.

Oh yes and "thank you" is "tank kew" when we say it. Hard to miss it to familiar ears.

Yep it is so invigorating that they are different :) One of those small toches that FD has done, which makes the game feel more alive.
When I arrive in a new system, its the announcer I anticipate the most :D
Kudo's FD !

Cheers Cmdr's

She's Malaysian, and that's the typical station announcer in most, if not all, large Imperial stations.

(ok maybe not Malaysian, but probably is)

Yup, Singaporean or Malaysian. More likely to be Singaporean, but I'm biased :)

Seeing as I'm in Singapore about 10 times a year, I'll go with that.

I do love the various voices, would love to see some more. I'm sure FD would have enough volunteers to give just about every station a unique voice, if they asked...

Can you imagine trying to hunt down the station that has your voice?

Z...

Well whether or not Singaporean or Malaysian, no diff... I personally treat Malaysians as locals. 99.999% same culture, mannerisms etc. Just some Chinese words might differ, and some idioms in English that makes sense in Malaysia but not Singapore. Oh and Malaysians mix more Malay words into English sentences, and Singaporeans mix more Chinese into English sentence. Very slight difference, but still understandable to one another. When speaking Chinese, Singaporeans mix more English words into the Chinese sentence, and Malaysians mix Malay words into their Chinese sentences. That's the only big glaring difference to tell them apart.

Well, since you say many stations in the Empire has this voice... I might just switch allegience! Time to start moving my ships from Sol to a new station somewhere in the Empire....(and start grinding ranks too).

I thought it was an accent from an African country. [where is it]

Hmm... the only experience with African accents I have is MaximBady (youtube guy)... :) He sounds nothing like us.

And I'm pretty sure the accent in the video is Singaporean/Malaysian. The way she runs words together is also obvious (and familiar) to me. "Welcome to Imperial Sovereign Territory. We look forward to serving your interest and thank you for choosing our facilities" is definitely spoken by a Singaporean/Malaysian person. The way the "interest and thank you" runs together can't be imitated easily, especially when "thank you" has to sound like "tank kew".

Sometimes the announcing voices reminds me of a busy airport's pa's either in different states of the U.S. or at an international terminal.

I recall hearing a sarcastic American voice who would give you flak for bumping through the mail slot along the lines of "learn to fly next time". I haven't heard him in a while. Wonder if he got phased out.

we need more of this, I love the variety of the station comms and announcement voices, I'd love to see this bleed over into more NPC background radio chatter outside the mailbox. After all of the Multi Crew hate on the forums it's nice to see a post that is approving of FD's work lol.

Yes that one is a favourite of mine. Love the common Northern female voice that just sound ... real. The voices are really quite varied. I know I heard an African accented voice too.

I also very much like the harsh Ameriucan voice you sometimes hear. He sounds like someone you`d expect has worked on an aircraft Carrier and will bust your bottom (swear filter again... sigh) if you get out of line.

That said ALL the voces are excellent. I like the good old Brit voices as well.

There used to be a rather gruff Scottsh announcer at anarchies. He was good. I also only heard the Caribbean sounding guy recently, although apparently he's been in the game since release! It was Wolf 406, I think.

I miss the Scottish announcer too. He did not like anyone. The Northern Lass is my favourite. Whish there were more accents like Russian, Chinese etc. Would not worry me if they spoke in their own language. Think that would add to the game. I would request French and Welsh female accents in my top 10.
