Tobii 4C Eye Tracker Problem

Hey guys. I just received my Tobii 4C. I followed the included instructions, installed the software, calibrated and made a profile for myself. I then downloaded Tobii's GameHub software, which automatically detected Elite as an installed, supported game. Then I configured my GameHub settings for Elite to match ObsidianAnt's video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pBCoEROTUc&t=427s.

The eye tracker itself clearly works, as I was able to see my gaze cursor on my desktop and play the little space shooter demonstration game included in the software. However, once I launch Elite with the GameHub software running no eye or head tracking happens in-game. I confirmed that I set up a toggle keybind for the tracking and it didn't do anything. I tried killing GameHub in task manager and relaunching, as well as completely uninstalling the software and reinstalling and restarting my PC. Still no tracking in Elite. Has anyone else had this issue with the Tobii 4C or have any suggestions? Thanks for your time and I appreciate any assistance you're able to provide.

I personally have not had that issue,

your keybind for toggling eyetracking in the Tobii game hub software, is it set to hold to enable/hold to disable/toggle?

your best bet is raising a ticket or asking the folks on their discord (devs and support staff do hang out in their discord too) https://discord.gg/BwFtpw

Thank you for your reply. My keybinding in the GameHub software is set to toggle. One thing worth noting is that I assigned this functionality to one of the buttons on the base of my T16000 joystick. When I first loaded the game after doing this I realized that button was already bound to something that I never normally use. At that point I removed the binding that I don't normally use within Elite's control settings. I wonder if doing this may have caused a problem with the binding I made for the eye tracker in GameHub. I may check that tonight. I wonder if toggle is on or off by default. If it's off by default my key binding could be causing the problem as I wouldn't be able to toggle it on.

I raised a ticket on Tobii's site last night and I think I'll give their discord a try too. Thank you for your assistance!

Go into your Windows power options. Disable "turn on fast startup" and reboot. Note you will need to do this after every Win 10 upgrade as the flag gets reset.

Interesting, I would have never thought to try this. I'll give it a shot tonight. Has this been a problem with eye trackers and windows 10? I didn't even know about the fast startup feature until you mentioned it here. Thanks for the info!

"Fast startup" is actually a hybrid sleep state. The tracker doesn't always initialize properly and will sometimes fail to respond in game or the lights will stay off with a ! mark in the tray utility. Forcing a real, full boot every time seems to fix it on my system.

Hi,

I think there's a bit of a bug in the latest Tobii Hub software. Try the following

1. Launch elite
2. At the main menu, switch to Windowed mode - Alt+ Enter I think
3. Start Elite as normal
4. Once you're in the cockpit you should find eye tracking is working and you can switch back to full screen (Alt+Enter again) and carry on as usual.

That works for me. Good luck!

Cool, thanks for the info! For the moment I'm on an older version of Game Hub Tobii provided for me (version 1.1.5) and that got the tracker working. Maybe I'll try to install the current version and do this. Thanks so much! Rep be upon you!

Moving theme up. Tobii was not working in ED only after 2 clean Win10 installations on different PCs. Desktop gaze trace -OK, nothing in ED. After contacting support they provided me very old Game Hub. Working! But the newer hub(s), at least two lstest versions were not working 4 me - no mind, why. Possibilites:

1. Russian Windows
2. MS account login
3. Giltches in new Windows builds. Seems, that new options (newer Game Hub versions may use them) are not workng properly

Thanks 2 Tobii tech support!

Interesting, I've had a similar problem where the tracker simply stopped working. What version of Game Hub are you using now?

TobiiGameHub_Bundle_1.1.5.701_x86
Thanks 4 posting the message, more statistics about the problem is better indeed.

BTW, I have win 10 pro 64 bit....

I'm using the newest version of Game Hub and generally everything works OK. I do get the sporadic 'it's stopped working', this is pretty much always sorted by restarting the Tobii Eye service and killing and restarting Gamehub

Im using the current version of Tobii game hub 1.6.4 and I just cant get it working at all, tried window mode as the game hub says it doesn't detect the game unless in a window. the eye tracker works in the other 4 games that i own but they don't require the hub software, the eye tracker works in windows OS and configures perfectly.. I'm lost now, any help with your settings in ED would help maybe... Do i have to do anything in ED to activate Game hub? Thanks

It just worked for me, didn't need to do anything in Elite itself.

Is Elite Dangerous showing in "My Installed Games " in Game Hub? And if so is "Eye Tracking in game" Set to ON?
