Tobii 4c helpy please

Hi
Ok so today I set up my new tobii 4c.
It's a cool piece of kit, worked first time out the box with no issues, easy set up etc.

However, there's one thing that I'm struggling with, a sort of jerkiness and slight stutter. It's not that bad, still playable, but I was watching obsidian ants video and the movement is silky smooth. I've seen other people use it as well and get similar smooth panning.
I'm pretty sure it's not my pc, that runs fine, so I suppose it's in the setup of the various 4c parameters.
So, does anybody have any tips? I've already played around with the sliders but not totally sure what I'm doing. I know actual setup will be different for everyone but general advice would be good.
Thanks :)

I use TrackIR, so I'm not really the right person to troubleshoot, but DO check your framerate. (Press Ctrl+F) The tracking is generally jerky and unreliable under 40FPS in my experience.

Also be sure to set up the curves in the software properly. A bit of a dead zone in the middle also doesn't hurt.

I found that the eye tracking was quite smooth, but when the head tracking was enabled I found it difficult to stop the tracking moving suddenly. I got acceptable results by adding a dead zone and messing (technical term ;-P) with the curves. Took several goes to get it right though.

I'll check my settings later and post them here.

Thanks, yeah examples of the settings you have might make me understand it more.
Frame rate is good, well as good as it usually is, drops to 40/50 during the odd busy res moments, over 90 the rest of the time.

Here you go:
Gaze tracking Mode: Extended view
Responsiveness: 60%
Sensitivity:
Speed 2.00
Exponent 2.00
Inflrction point 0.80
Start point 0.00
End point 1.00

Head tracking mode: Direct
RTesponsiveness: 100%
Sensitivity:
Speed 7.50
Exponent 1.25
Inflection point 0.50
Start point 0.02
End point 1.00

Enable/disable key: toggle

Hope these help... even if it's a starting point :D

Thanks :)
I've changed head tracking responsiveness down to 80 but other than that this works nice for me :)

i haven't got my setting here atm, but will try to post it later.

What really helped me to get a comfortable setting is to think about how would you look in real life.
Your eyes only have so much vision around you without moving your head, so it's a bit unnatural to be able to swing the camera around 180 degrees with only your eyes.

So what I did is limit the eye movement to 45-50 degrees on horizontal and vertical axis. later adjusted this a bit. This only restricts the eye tracking.
What happens is that you can look around your hud but the camera stops at some point so you can easily glance at stuff without the view completely going to the sides.

If you want to look further you start turning your head, which for me is very natural.
Since this change it also was less tiring to use tobii, you didn't have the feeling anymore you were 'pushing' the camera with your eyes.

I then did some tweaks to the speed and dead zones to make it more fluent.

Obsidians settings are nice to see if it will work for you, using that degree restriction really made the difference for me.

+Rep for this...

I was on the verge or sending my Tobii back due to the jankiness, until I read about your viewing angles.

It is now silky smooth.

Thank you!

I had to turn the head tracking off. I sport a beard and moustache and according to the Tobii support & developers this means that the head tracking cannot figure out where my chin is and it is this that is used to drive the head tracking. Maybe future software updates will fix this. The rest of the system is pretty good all the same.

I got the Tobii 4c and am unable to get it to work in ED. It will work when I run the Combat Tutorial from the launcher, but it won't run in the actual game. Has anyone else experienced this?
