Tod McQuinn won't take my bounty vouchers

So I got invited. I come with bounty vouchers but the Donate button is greyed out. I flew to the nearby Nav beacon, killed some pirates. Came back, still grey. I relog multiple times, reinstall the game, change computers, do a lot of researches and still can't figure out how to proceed. What am I missing here?

Hmm... not absolutely sure about this, but I think I remember those 100k Cr bounties had to be issued by Alliance factions.

But after a succesful unlock one could hand in bounty vouchers of any faction to increase the reputation with Mr. McQuinn.
That was somewhat odd.

If nothing helps, try opening a ticket and let support sort it out.

P.S.: it seems to me the engineer unlocking system is a bit borked nowadays. E.g. I have an Epic Alt I'm playing around with and several of the engineers got unlocked without me having even thought about unlocking them. e.g. Lei Chung (200 gold I never paid...) and I never mined 500 ores to unlock Selene Jean... Just odd... 🤷‍♂️

That should work, but I wonder if there's a bug where the first bounty on your list (in some ordering) isn't valid for whatever reason, and that's stopping it working.

If you cash in that pile of vouchers at a normal bounty contact, then go and collect another 100,000 from the Wolf 397 nav beacon, maybe that will work?

It’s almost 100mil of bounties worth that I’m saving to max out the engineer. Can’t turn them all in just to reset a bug 🥲 I will try to hunt some alliance bounties and see if it works. And to confirm, I keep the vouchers with me and not to turn them in another local station, right?

Assuming you intend to ever engineer any module that Tod provides, this is unnecessary - the first module you engineer with him will max your rep anyway.

(Sure, you've got them now, but there are other engineers it'll apply to later.)

Even if you just want access for a referral to someone else it's generally going to be quicker to engineer a throwaway module to grade 3 than it is to get the rep by other means.

Yes, you need to turn those in at Tod's base.

I'm sure you have but make sure you have entered the hanger to turn them in. Also, a few had this issue resolved by turning the bounties someplace else...then getting another alliance set and turning those in inside Todd's base

So I'm back with some updates. I flew to the station nearby and did some alliance quests. Got some pirates killed. Flew back with Alliance bounties, and still the same thing, greyed out Donate button. As you can see, Wolf 397 Independents bounty vouchers are alliance vouchers. I have some other alliance bounty vouchers on the list as well. I made sure I went inside the hangar.

Then, I relogged and went into Solo mode. Pop! I can now donate.
Conclusion:
1. You must have alliance bounties to unlock the first 100k donation
2. You must go into the hangar, don't stay on the ground
3. You must relog (Exit to Main Menu) for the game to upload your new data (bounties)

I hope this help the next people and best of luck to whoever encounter this silly, unclear, poor-designed quest line!

Yes, you need to turn those in at Tod's base.
The first module I engineered with him only gave me 1 level and 10% on grade 2.

For people who want to max him out in 1 go, ensure you have around 5-6 mil worth of bounties and turn them in to the local contact at the Trophy Camp after you unlock him.

Sorry, I should have been clearer: the first module you engineer to near the top of grade 4 or higher will max your rep anyway.

But as the main use of maxed rep is to be able to engineer grade 5 modules, and you need a grade 4 module anyway to be able to engineer a grade 5 module, there's no way that your rank with him can be behind the module pre-requisite except in very unusual circumstances (you've brought him a module that someone else has started off, for example) - your rank always increases faster than the module itself does.

For Tod where the 5M bounties to max him out are readily obtainable anyway it's fine either way; some of the others are a lot quicker to rank up just by engineering a module through the various grades than they are to use the alternative route (and some of the others don't have any alternative routes at all, of course)

(They should get rid of engineer rank - the Odyssey ones don't have it and it's not a problem - it's a leftover from a much earlier design and it just overcomplicates things nowadays. But that's probably not something they'll have time for)

👆If you are going to engineer anything to G5 at an engineer you are wasting your time doing anything else to max rank. Even if you're not planning to engineer anything to G5 at an engineer you should pick a throwaway module and do that anyway because it's the best method.
