Today I got an oculus and jumped into ED and.....

I've been playing this game since I got my DK2. Played for around 50 hours and never got sick. It's just the best gaming experience right now. Can't wait for future improvements & a higher resolution Rift.

It took me a couple days to acclimatize to the Rift, but I have to agree it's a great experience. I happen to have a full HOTAS setup, pedals, and voice attack so it ends up being a really great experience. I actually played quite a bit in the Eagle and then upgraded to the Viper - and it totally changed the game. Suddenly, I went from a very cramped cockpit to a spacious interior. Even though my actual room hadn't changed, I felt like I was in a far more comfortable environment. It was crazy.

I actually find that docking and dogfighting are quite easy even at the DK2's resolution. The 3D effect really makes it a cinch to judge distance when making more delicate maneuvers. Menus are a bit harder but changing the HUD color was clutch.

Thanks all for the comments and feedback, given I've just upgraded my PC this year I may have to wait and see whether I get a bonus next year before dropping cash on the DK2 or consumer release. Anyone in Cambridgeshire, UK who has a DK2 and Elite fancy loaning it to me? :p

Reason I ask about contacts etc is because I wear RGP lenses so they can dry out quickly if I am not careful and one eye is way worse than -10 (free eye test zone for those in the UK) plus astigmatic! I guess the only way to work out how this is going to work best is get an OR and try contacts, glasses and finally no corrective. Given I'll be having an eye test/check-up early next year I'll see if they will measure IPD in preparation for getting an OR

Though what I've heard about looking round the cockpit (including at feet and while docked) certainly is cool
