Tonights Livestream - Knocked it Out of the Park!

So what was gamepad diagram that appeared on the screen when Ed held a button down for too long ?
I have a PS4 which does that, and it's great for reminding me what the key binds are.
But i've never seen it on a PC - is it a new feature ?

That was the Xbox controller UI.

The new megaship interactions looked good, the Chieftan presentation showed all the stuff we wanted too, overall a good presentation. I was glad when Steve took control of the game though, Ed looked like he was trying to do too many things at once (and commented on it).

What pleased me the most was the lack of secrecy. The Beta is close enough that nothing needed to be held back, and the stuff that was shown but not discussed kept the audience engaged.

Old feature, there's a setting to turn it off though.

Looking forward to the beta very much. Hats off to frontier, looks like we are getting some really cool new additions to the game.

2.4, Thargoid stuff apart, was light on content and Quality of Life improvements.

3.0 is correcting that in a big way.

A nice touch is now - finally - we have interaction with mega-ships*. I think it was 2.2 when they were introduced.

* By robbing them!! :D

....and just think, Q1 is-according to them-a smaller update than what the Q4 update is going to be. Just mull that over for a second ;).

Pretty sure they first appeared in 2.3, as part of the Generation Ship reveals.

I stand corrected. Still, its been a good while. About time they got some use, and teeth.

Good show tonight...planets are looking a helluva lot better, gonna make the wait till Q4 a fair bit easier thats fer sure.

And the chieftan...looks like it could most certainly find a use or three, and the way the engines fold to house the rear landing gear...nice touch and looks sweet.

The changes to trade are certainly worth a look...its not a career Ive really explored beyond bits n pieces mainly due to the lack of the very things yer now adding :)

Yep...thumbs up frontier...looking very promising indeed ^

All these new interactions could be tied into missions and other activities. Also why would you do it over an over, there are other things you can do in between, like other types of missions, using the SRV. It's another thing we can do, which will hopefully get tied into missions, making missions more varied and interactive, possibly wing missions would be good which is exactly what you where asking for with different ships doing different roles working together.

True... but the interactions need to be more involved and deeper than shown imho.

It's a step in the right direction I guess but as demonstrated I can't imagine them getting much time from players.

Seem little self contained bolt ons (again) in approach.

So yes, only when there's more depth and layers can I see these thing having real interest.

I really hope theres a little more on offer than cargo we saw in tonights stream.sounded like they are planning these as pirate wing missions, the rewards really should be quite substantial. Providing materials for a tech broker perhaps?

The trending data was a purchase for 24hrs of data access, I think we will have to wait for the beta to see if its going to be of real use to pirates.

Yes more depth and more reward would be needed on those mega ship interactions. As it stands I don't see much more that something for people to try, before feeling they've then tried it, and moving on.

Also wonder if for example the cargo stealing can be sidestepped by one Cmdr opening it and leaving a second to pick up trouble free.

Or, if shield regeneration beams are still over powered two cmdrs sitting there shooting each other with those forever immune to all attacks while limpeting cargo.

And as regards the suggestion of fighting protecting ships? Isnt destroying those going to increased Notoriety and rebuy costs then? All for a few tons of cargo? And a bounty?
