Engineers Too late now but... I had a thought

So: when you get good at fighting (combat rank) you get an invite from engineers with weapons mods? And when you get high explore / trade rank invited from engineers that buff those?

It might have been interesting the other way around.

Say I'm a Bounty Hunter (high combat rank).
Not only would engine mods make Exploring more appealing (as it would be easier); but I would also have added reason to explore (as that engineer gives weapons mods).

Of course: urging players to use multiple styles of play if they want to specialize may not be the way to go and what was actually done may be better... but I think it's an interesting road not taken.

That is an interesting idea, but the game already kinda works that way, but the other way around. For example, over the weekend I worked on gaining rep with one of the engineers by handing in exploration data and because of all the exploring I was doing, I increased my explorer rank from trailblazer to pathfinder
 
I think that inversing the invitations relative to your competencies is a great idea, as like you say, if getting good at combat rewarded you with exploration tools, it might encourage players to go play cartographer... +1 rep CMDR

I know you said its maybe a bit later, and it certainly is for 2.1, but there is always 2.1.1 in which they are revisiting the RNG bit :)
