Too Many Wing Missions

Anyone finding that there are too many wing missions with the new update?

If you like teaming up I guess they are great, but there are too many of them on some boards they are the majority.
I like playing solo, don't want to play in a wing, FD do force your customers into it.

Cargo missions, only ones that are solo pay little and repeatedly doing these is boring.
Assassination missions, high paying ones need a wing, doing it solo you find you're going get a beating
Killing pirates require hundreds of kills, wing mission again, for not much in the form of credits.

Come on FD some of these were fine before the update, why mess with them.
Making the game more limiting isn't making it interesting or fun

Why not have a separate board for wing missions then people can choose what they want
 
I agree that wing missions should have their own seperate tab, similarly assassination missions should come from a security mission contact, and so on.

However, should you wish to, you can take a wing mission on solo, and treat it as a mini-cg.

Needs to be done for all mission types, not just wing missions.

80-90% of missions generated are wasted because they're eliminated by-default by players because
- Of the 80-odd missions generated per board, if we weren't fussy at all, we can only accept 20
- BGS runners pick missions (generally) to aid a single faction.
- Traders will only pick trade missions with their trade ships
- Combat pilots only want combat missions
- Mission stackers only want a single mission type
- Passenger haulers want optimal selection for their cabin classes. This generally means Luxury-class cabins (One of the few fitting advantages of the Orca/Beluga/Dolphin range) are a waste because there's never enough luxury missions to make it worth the lost capacity.
- Long-range (colonia) missions. They spammed the board too much (just like wing missions) and so got restricted to just tourism economies.
- And now... wing missions.

All this just results in mode flipping and constant board (re)generation resulting in the slow mission server responses and subsequent timeouts we get.

Whether FD wanted to make a small amount of "Broad" categories (for standard missions, say Illegal, Trade, Combat, Salvage) and just RNG based on them, or go right down to saying "I want this mission type from this faction", and you get offered three different missions and you pick one (or two, or three), or suffer a rep penalty for rejecting the offers, I don't really mind.

But the computational capacities of mission board generation along with the variety of missions just means players are logging on and not able to do the activities they want to do, which sucks.
 
This was a problem during the Betas as well. I had times at my home station where the entire board was filled with nothing but Wing Missions. Every single faction up and down the line! And Mode Swapping didn't help either.

I filed a bug report at the time. I don't think it ever got replied to by Frontier. Too many other "Me too" bug reports on topics already well reported quickly pushed it off the front pages into oblivion.

Obviously, whatever is going on looks to be the same issue I saw back in Beta 1 through Beta 3. Only thing I can suggest is travel to another system or two and see if you have better luck there.

And by all means... File your own bug report, and include a screenshot of the wall to wall Wing Missions. Maybe you will have more success than I did. ??

Yeah, since the update I've done a few wing missions as solo.

One was I had to kill 90 Pirates for 2m, before update it would have been 7-10m

The other was an assassination for 900k, I ended up facing a 5 ships, large ships, the largest ships if you know what I mean.
I got a good beating, will avoid in future so looks like assassination missions for wings of off limits for me.

Fetch 750tons of {Commodity} for 650k.
Kill 350 (!) Targets in a Conflict Zone for 11M Cr.
Kill 158 Pirates in a System that only has a NAV Beacon. For 5.6M.
Deliver 3500 (!) tons for 1.5M Cr.

I'm looking at all those Missions and be like... Nah. Find someone else.
There aren't even Mat Rewards to make up for the low payouts. Give me 25x Grade 5 stuff and I might reconsider. Not interested however in getting i.e. 36 tons of Articulation Motors or something like that (who needs those anyway ?!).

For the time being, the Wing Missions seem like the max. Range Passenger Missions. Asking you for an upto 60000LY round-robin tour. For 25M Cr. *lol*

At least you're seeing wartarget missions...

While I can't speak to the payouts of massacre wing missions, one of the problems with the cargo delivery missions (both wing and normal, and is what a lot of people are seeing with Wing missions) is that the reward is primarily based on cargo value, not cargo tonnage.

So, 4,500 tonnes of clothing is worth roughly 1.125m (at 250cr/t), while 2,000t of Imperial Slaves is worth around 24m, so you'll only see a reward of around 1-2m credits for the former, and 15-20m for the latter, whereas (I'd argue) that the former should be worth almost twice as much as the latter.

There is an argument about the risk of loss of the latter cargo (results in a 24m credit fine) while the former will result in a 1m credit fine for failure, but ultimately, it's the tonnage that results in the "effort" for the mission.

It only looks that way since they took out skimmer missions, mining missions, and anything else people with big mouths and insecurity issues have been making YouTube videos about.
 
I'm kinda not sure. I'm allied with almost all factions at my home base, depending on the state they are in, I see all kinds of missions. Haffta check more.
