Discussion [Tool] Stellar body identifier

I've just now started authoring a tool for you explorers out there, that hopefully assists you on your way when determining to scan a planetary body or not.

This service; that lives at http://www.objectscanner.net is still in its infancy, and I'm planning on adding a lot more imagery and recorded audio, as well as improving the introduction, descriptions and look and feel.

This tool is based off of CMDR Akira's excellent thread: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=144782

This sparked the idea for me to create a web based tool in the hopes that it will improve the experience for explorers when trying to identify what different stellar bodies may look and sound like.

Here's a screenshot of what it looks like today:

But I'd also like to know what you think of it. Is this something that you would find useful or see that others would find useful?

The tool will help most when you as a gamer is not really aware of that 1) Stellar bodies emanate sound that are distinct depending on the body and, 2) when you have understood #1, you want to explore what most, if not all bodies could sound and look like.

I'd also like to give a shoutout to the helpful CMDRs in the Distant Worlds Discord chat for assisting me in figuring out how to get the best possible audio out of E:D for recording!

Please, do comment on this, as it will help in making an even better tool!

Until next time, CMDRs!

Would be nice if you listed them with their approximate payouts (both with and without adv. surface scanner) and make them fit on screen.

This graphic could help, http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net...Dubardo.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20160115141708

Also note that one could also just add relevant sound recordings and information to each of the entries in a general wiki page instead of having another site to bookmark.
In the end it will most likely mean the information will persist longer as you are now paying out of you pocket (i assume) and could mean the termination of said information if you decide your money is best spent otherwise.

Yes, that is something I'm absolutely planning to do, you can count on it.

In between, I've just adapted this to make it more mobile friendly. On screens that report less than 412 pixel width, the display will now be listed in a horizontal order instead of the vertical, as it shows up per default on a wide screen.

I'll get onto working on the payout info as well.

So, about the more viability comment; I'll keep on doing this as long as people find it useful, my interest stays alive and, when/if my ISP says I'm eating too much data and I have to take it down or figure something else out. If any of that happens I'll gladly be contributing to the wiki. However, as long as I can provide something that I believe is a better/more interesting/better practice for my web development skills, I'll keep on hosting it.

The tool has been updated several times since the last post and I'm now fairly certain that it will play nice for at least mobile phone in portrait mode, and on desktops.
I still have testing to do on tablets and landscape phones to see what needs to be done, but the look-and-feel and functionality is pretty much as I want it to be, and it at least resembles the actual System Map in the game, so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out how to work with it.

If you have any comments or suggestions, do feedback!

Until next time, CMDRs!
