General / Off-Topic top 5 influential bands ever

OK. I am not just old but ancient, My top 5 is going to be a way backs. Try and think about what bands/ or performers had the most influence on music as you know it. try and not pick your favorite, My favorite band of of all time is Credence Clearwater Revival but they don't make my top 5. I expect younger people will select bands post 2000 but that is cool.

#5 Led Zeppelin
#4 Pink Floyd
#3 Prince
#2 The Beatles
#1 The rolling Stones

Picking the top 5 is hard. I could have picked a ton of others like, Elvis, Orbison, Cash, The Band, The Who, Diana Ross just too name a few. This doesn't even enter into the bands that introduced Rap, Heavy Metal and on and on.

Your top 5 will and should be different than my top 5 because we are different people with different tastes living in different lands. All the more reason though why I would like to know who you think the top 5 bands that had the most influence on music are.

I don't need 5, only one and a single artist at that:
Robert Johnstone

Without him music today and since his time (1930s) would be very different. He is the most influential artist ever.

Kraftwerk

I remember all to well when I bought Computerwelt in 1981 and everybody I knew seemed irritated and said things like ''what is that?" or "that's anything but music". Nowadays we are virtually surrounded by these sounds.

Bowie of course, massively influential all over.
Black Sabbath for rockers?
Hendrix for guitarists?
Bob Marley for lots of reasons.
And a musicians's musician, often quoted; Rory Gallagher
