Top 5 Interstellar Bounties + criminal tracking system

With the implementation of the new C&P system I thought of a little enhancement for the Top 5 Bounties functionality. It's pretty much useless currently - by the time a bounty hunter sees the top 5 bounties, the culprits are most probably long gone from the system and the jurisdiction. It's more a bragging board that anything else really.

What if we've had a global Top 5 Interstellar Bounties board and if you're a bounty hunter, you could then register as a hunter for 1 Commander from the board (only 1 Cmdr at a time!). This would give you that Commander's location on the map + 100% matchmaking chance if you are in Open and in the same system.

Effectively a tracking tool for a dedicated PVP bounty hunters.

Fits nicely with the C&P theme for Beyond season.

What do you guys think?

Maybe a new tracker limpit,if you spot them you can launch from super cruise and then a certain amount of time could pass that they're visible on the galaxy map. If we could see the docking pattern of these criminals it would allow cmdr's to hunt them in likely systems. Like you said,a guaranteed instance with your chosen bounty.

Not gonna work if people hide in solo and PG anyway.

If they are griefers, it will actually work. No more griefing from them :p

If they will want to caue havoc again, they will need to come to Open and will immediately pop up on someone's map. Being a criminal should be risky, right? Watch your back and all that.

There are a few player groups dedicated to protect starter systems for example. Currently it's pure luck if they will find any griefers in those areas. With my system in place they could ACTUALLY protect starter systems from the most wanted murderers.

I would love that. I'd have a Sidewinder wanted across all inhabited space just to mess with peoples expectations.

Every system can be trolled and abused. What I proposed would have to be tailored and designed in more detail of course, taking scenarios like that into consideration.

I don't mind extra tools to find wanted players. But I would rather see devs focus on things that matter than waste their resources on things that do not.

Just because you don't want it doesn't mean it doesn't matter, or others don't want it. The concept I made got massive rep and reddit upvotes around the time I made it... there is clearly a demand.

Well, what doesn't matter to you, may matter to someone else and vice versa :)

What I think is that we need a map mode like the new trading one, which also work in a 40 lyr radius in open.

Call it the piracy/BH map mode :

Show the position of every wanted CMDR with Bounty > 1M in the area. Also show the position of all traders with a haul of > 1M in value.

...

Profit ?

And yeah OP proposal is really cool. +rep.

Not bad.

What if we had to buy the data first? So in Anarchy systems there could be a data broker, that (lore explanation) would hack into trading networks and sell the current trade ships locations (as per your post) data for pirates.

Likewise in all the other systems local authorities would provide the BH data for their respective jurisdiction. And if the faction was one of the 3 superpowers, they would also sell BH data for interstellar bounties.

Do you mean live ? (as in current location with an update every minute or 30 secs)
Would your idea work(and be sensible) if the global bounty board only goes active if the bounty is over a certain threshold ?

They could use the new notoriety value. A high notoriety would act as a trigger to getting on the interstellar bounty board.
