1. Favorite Coaster.
Baron 1898

Ofcours it is my favorite coaster. It is such a fun coaster with heavy theming. It is a experience. The best experience I ever had in a coaster.

2. Favorite Darkride.
Maus Au Chocolat
It is a interactive darkride in Phantasialand. It is so fun to do with the family. The competion aspect is nice and the mix from 3d screens and theming is amazing.

3. Favorite Waterride.
De Vliegende Hollander
An other Efteling Beauty. This attraction is made with a cost of €20 million. And you can see it. The theming is so nice. It is like a timetravel machine, because you have the feeling you are in the year 1723.

4. Favorite Flatride.
Dumbo the flying elephant.
This was a hard one, because I don't like flatrides. I like a experience ride and Flatride aren't that type of rides. But when I think of Flatrides I think of the Dumbo ride of Disneyland. My childhood is based on this attraction. [yesnod]

5.
Favorite attraction.
The Twilight Zone Tower and Terror
My favorites attraction outside the other categories is The Twilight Zone Tower and Terror. It is a beautiful attraction. The feeling is amazing!

That´s a fun thread! [happy] Hmm... Let me think.
My picks:

1) Coaster: Colorado Adventure, Phantasialand Germany
2) Darkride: Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye, Disneyland California
3) Waterride: De Vliegende Hollander, Efteling Netherlands
4) I`m not a big flatride fan, but I guess I´d have to go with Talocan, Phantasialand
5) Other attration: Hmmm, again Phantasialand... Since I haven´t been on the Tower of Terror I have to pick Mystery Castle.

Second Places:
My runner up for favorite coaster would be Joris en de Draak, Efteling. My second place for darkride has to be
Pirates of the Carribean, Disneyland Paris. For waterrides I´d choose Poseidon, Europa Park Germany

Wow, Efteling looks like it looks beautiful at night.

Mine:
1) Nemesis
2) Pirates of the Caribbean in Paris
3) Hmm. Tough one. Probably Stormforce 10 or Poseidon at Europa.
4) Apocalypse at Drayton.
5) Not sure about this one since I'm not quite sure what you mean. Scare maze at Halloween? Probably Sub Species at Alton last year, really intense and scary.

  1. Favorite Coaster

If Incredible Hulk Coaster (Universal Studios Orlando, FL, USA) was themed properly I would choose that one. But it's not so I choose, OzIris (Parc Astérix, France)

5. Favorite Attraction
Not sure

1. Favorite Coaster:
Honestly I don't know anymore - there's so many fantastic ones I've been on, but I'm sure Helix (Liseberg) will be the best once I go on it in summer :D
As of now it's probably something like Expedition Everest, but I haven't rode it since 2006.

2. Favorite Dark Ride:
Harry Potter & The Forbidden Journey. While it did make me a little nauseous, the immersion on that ride was just insane. I literally didn't feel like I was in real life anymore because I couldn't see anything except the simulated world around me. I couldn't make any sense of where the track was in relation to me at any point, I was just flying through an exhilarating story in the world of Harry Potter. The queue and exterior are absolutely amazing too.

After checking other people's posts, Ratatouille is very close behind too. The trackless system is just incredible, but most scenes weren't anywhere near as immersive as HP.

3. Favorite Water Ride:

I'm not a huge fan of water rides, but Splash Mountain is too well-themed to not choose. The drop's great, it's really long, and it's in Florida so you dry off fairly quickly :p

4. Favorite Flat Ride:
I quite liked Dr. Doom's Fear Fall at islands Of Adventure. There's probably others I liked out there but I can't remember them. I don't usually come off any flat ride and go 'that was memorable' though, so it'd be hard to pick a proper favourite.

5. Favorite Attraction:
Not really sure what counts as an attraction, and I can't think of a favourite non-ride, so I'll just leave this one.

It was very difficult to select only one for category but... Here is my list!

1. Favorite Coaster: Thunder Dolphin (Tokyo Dome, Tokyo, Japan). This rollercoaster is totally unique. I visited Japan the last year and I rode it at night. This coaster is awesome! If you look around at the talest point, you can see an incredible landscape of Tokyo with all the city lights. It's unforgettable!

2. Favorite Dark Ride: Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey (Universal Island of Adventure, Orlando, Florida). The first time that I rode it I couldn't believe it was real hahaha. Pure imagineering!

3. Favorite Water Ride: Splash Mountain (Disneyworld Magic Kingdom, Orlando, Florida). This ride has an incredible design, is very lovely and large and the last drop is amazing!

4. Favorite Flat Ride: Free Fall (everywhere). It's a modern classic and I love heights.

5. Favorite Attraction: Tower of Terror (DisneySea, Tokyo, Japan). I rode in París and Orlando too but the Tokyo edition is my favorite. Apart of the incredible building design, the special effects are amazing and I love the creepy tottem story.

1. Favorite Coaster: California Screamin' (Disney's California Adventure)
Ive been to taller coasters, more exciting, more inversions and even some world records at the time, metal, wooden... Still ive never had so much fun than with California Screamin' (although others come close). I love how even being a steel coaster, it blends like a wooden one in a 1920's pier. I love how long it is (2nd longest in america, and 6th in the world). And above everything I love the soundtrack of the ride, a mix between carnival and fast music depending of the part of the track (my favourite parts are the bunny hoops at the guitar riff mixed with carnival at the end of the ride, it still gives me goosebumps), the spiel of Neil Patrick Harris as a 1920's fairground attendant (thank god they got rid of the 90's cool guy voice) when the coaster shoots you. Its all a perfect blending, and thats why its my favourite.

2. Favorite Dark ride: The Twilight Zone - Tower of Terror
(Disney's California Adventure)
One of the most amazing dark rides ever, with an outside super structure that tells a story from the start, a magnificent story, told with magic tricks by the the fantastic and dead host, Rod Serling. And of course, the thrills of being the type of ride that it is. And this is supposed to be the inferior version, seeing the videos of Orlando, it seems even better.

3. Favorite Waterride: Splash Mountain
(Disneyland)
Great dark ride parts, amazing animatronics, awesome splash, and the magnificent soundtrack, you will never ride a better zip a dee doo dah ride.

4. Favorite Flatride: Slammer (Thorpe Park)
Absolutely frightening stuff. Only two of them in the world.

5. Favorite Attraction (I dont uderstand this and Tower of Terror is definetely a darkride).

Yes, but in the sense "an accerated drop tower ride in the dark".

I think coencoensmeets talk about the specific "dark ride" type and not "thrill ride in the dark" ...

I mean ... I guess. [yesnod]

This ranking includes all theme-parks I've been before:

Austria:
Prater

Belgium:
Bobbejaanland
Walibi Belgium

France:

Disneyland Paris
Parc Asterix

Germany:

Europa Park
Phantasialand
Holiday Park
Heide Park
Tripsdrill
Movie Park

Italy:
Gardaland

Netherlands:
Efteling
Walibi Wavre

Favorite Coaster:

1. Space Mountain (Disneyland Paris).
I've never been in theme-parks outside of Europe, but I've riden many great rollercoasters, so it's a pretty hard decision. But the suspense and theming of Space-Mountain is incredible. The "Launch", the layout, the effects. Pretty amazing (but I liked the older Jules Verne-style even more).

2. Colorado Adventure (Phantasialand)

Big Thunder Mountain has the better theming but Colorado Adventure is the better ride. I love mine-train coasters.

3. Tornero de Zeus

What a weird, great ride. So rough, so much fun. The greates wooden-coaster I've ridden so far.

Honorable Mentions: Wodan, Rock n' Roll Coaster, Blue Fire, Expedition Geforce, Karacho, Oziris

Favorite Darkride
1. Fata Morgana (Efteling)A beautiful dark ride. Not just a boring "Pirates of the Caribean"-Clone like the one in most other parks (one of the worst the Europa Park version) but a ride with story, heart and adventure in it. A beautiful ride around the arabian nights. Yes, i like it even more than the disney masterpiece.2. Pirates of the Caribbean (Disneyland Paris)
A classic. Great storytelling, beautiful sets and a great adventure vibe... and of course a great soundtrack.

3. Maus au chocolat (Phantasialand)
The best interactive dark ride so far. Great fun.

Special Mention:phantom Manor ( it's very sad that Disneyland Paris doesn't invest more in this ride. The effects are outdated and a few doesn't work anymore. It would have been in the Top 3 if it wasn't in this bad shape the last time I rode it (2013).Honorably Mentions:Droomvlucht, I Corsari (the underwater effect is amazing)

Favorite Waterride
1. Teufelsfässer (Holiday Park)
That was a great water-ride, sadly they rethemed it. The river ride to a demonic mill full of devils was great suspense, and the ride itself was a great thrill too (Double drop, backdrop in the darkness, great length)

2. Chiapas (Phantasialand)
Newest waterride technology. Great last drop (with airtime in it), good length and great theming. A perfect waterride

3. Badewannenfahrt zum Jungbrunnen (Tripsdrill)
What a great idea, a waterride through an old castle in search of the fountain of youth. A clever, original idea, a good layout and a great last drop.

Honorable mentions: Wildwasser II from Heidepark (doesn't exist anymore), Menhir Express, Radja River (very wet), De Vliegende Hollander

Favorite Flatride:

1. Tower of Terror (Disneyland Paris)
A mix between dark-ride and freefall-tower. The theming is perfect, maybe the best I've ever seen so far (all the little details and Twilight Zone references). The ride is pure fun and thrill. Absolutely great. Really want to ride the Tokyo and the Orlando version of it (someday I will [yesnod] )

2. Mystery Castle (Phantasialand)
I hate Topspins, so I've never ridden Talocan, but Mystery Castle is great fun. Great theming and a good thrill-factor.

3. Breakdancer (Nearly every Funfair has one)
A classic.

Well, imagineers always refer to tower of terror as a dark ride. Have some imagineer books were they always describe the ride like that. And to add to that the ToT in orlando has actually got a segment were the elevator moves horizontally on a track, just like other dark rides like Haunted Mansion (not the same omnimouver tech of course).
At the end of the day, dark rides have different possibilities. They can be coasters, omnimouvers, track rides, water rides and drop towers, but I suppose if the most prevalent element is being a dark ride, you can consider calling it that.

1. Favorite Coaster!
I'm not really sure if you can count this, but it's still a roller coaster
Revenge of the Mummy (Universal Studios, Orlando):

2. Favorite Dark ride!
Out of these 2 I'm not so sure, but these 2 are amazing -
Harry Potter and the forbidden journey (Islands of Adventure, Orlando):

3. Favorite Waterride!
Jurassic Park: River Adventure (islands of Adventure, Orlando):

4. Favorite Flatride!
Okay I haven't been on this, but it still looks pretty awesome
Falcon's Fury (Busch Gardens, Tampa):

5. Favorite Attraction
This may be questionable but I certainly enjoy it.
Kilimanjaro Safari (Disney's Animal Kingdom, Orlando)

1. Favorite Coaster!
I would go for the Sheikra in Busch Gardens - Tampa - Florida. That first drop is just amazing.
2. Favorite Dark ride!
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey in Universal Island of Adventure - Orlando - Florida. The queue is first of all one of best I've ever been in. There is so much to see and before you know it, you're already taking a seat. The ride itself was unbelievable. This is a one-of-a-kind ride. I know you have Ratatouille in Paris or maybe Spiderman/Transformers in the same park. But Harry Potter goes a few steps beyond that.
3. Favorite Waterride!
One time in the Efteling - Kaatsheuvel - Netherlands I've been in the Piranha by evening. And the current of the water was much faster than by day. That was an amazing experience.
4. Favorite Flatride!
Falcon Fury in Busch Gardens - Tampa - Florida by a long shot. I've never screamed that loud in my life when he drops. It was terrifying and therefore amazing.
5. Favorite Attraction
I don't know if it counts, but the recent evening shows by Disney in Florida as in France are only producing goosebumps. I love it. And by that I mean the electrical parade, followed by a great show at the castle which will end by fireworks.
