Ok, time to have some fun.

Your top tips for Elite Dangerous.

Either ingame or making it more immersive.

A few rules.

  • Keep it clean, the kids may be reading.
  • Keep it shortish.
  • Try to keep Psykokow and OSS under control.
  • Make them funny. :D
  • Remember, keep it clean.:rolleyes:
Have fun. :D :D :D

Here's one to kick it off.

Superglue a load of Velcro hooks to the bottom of your feet and get that authentic zeroG feeling while nipping to the smallest room across your carpets.

Can't afford expensive 3D glasses etc..?

Simply tape two toilet rolls centre's together affix then onto your head using rubberbands.

Then use red and green sweet wrappers on each free end to give you that authentic 3D experience.

Remember to drink large quantities of sugary drinks and jump up and down for the 3D nausea feeling. :D

Sellotape red and green Quality Street wrappers over your eyes to get that anaglyphic feel.

edit: Ninja'd by TJ with his Heath Robinson approach to sweet wrappers. Mine is more painful to remove though.

Forget 3D - for the full 4D experience rig up machines to provide physical effects as you play. Be set on fire as the cockpit burns, your whole house shaken when hit by a missile, and glass thrown in your face as the air is sucked from the room whenever the canopy is broken.

My wife will drive a car into the house and throw a glass at my face for free.

Frontier have said in future we'll have exchangeable sound packs. To get that feature in advance just have a friend sit by your ear saying "pew pew pew!" in time with the game.

Or for the full, immersive, truly scientifically accurate sound model, you can go to extreme lengths and turn your speakers off.

Want that true Thargoid experence?

Dig out a toy Hulk, remove its head and and stick a picture of a preying mantis head on it, using a curtain rod spring and a metronome you can get a quite scary effect as it looms in and out of your view.

Wearing a collander on your head and turning the lights out while getting a friend to shine a torch at you, gives you that immersive in a starfield feeling.

Live until 3300 for the 100% immersive experience!

Can'r be bothered to wait that long?

Sneak into a cryogenice facility and hide in one of the freezer tubes.

Don't forget to leave a sticky note on the outside saying "Do not open until 3300."

And you might want to go to the toilet first. :D

If you don't have Oculus Rift, simply tape two montiors to yours eyes, one for each eye.

If you want the true Elite: Dangerous experience, build yourself a 1:1 scale Cobra MkIII.

To simulate Zero-G, have a friend tie some fishing lines to your wrists and ankles and have the lines threaded through hooks screwed into the ceiling while four friends randomly reel the lines in or out.

for that immersive zero G feeling throw yourself (and your laptop) out the back of a cargo plane at 35,000 feet in one of these:

MAN-IN-BALL.jpg
as an added bonus you also get to experience a fairly accurate simulation of what it would feel like to crash into a space station while trying to manually dock.

offline mode only though as it may be a bit difficult to stay connected ;)
