Torpedoes deserve their own ship audio warning.

Pretty self explanatory I think. Torpedoes are not Missiles. they are Torpedoes. In space there isn't much of a difference but since you decided to call them torpedoes lets stick with it. I know that you know the only Torpedoes people use are Reverb Torpedoes to take out shield generators. So it would seem beneficial for big ships especially to know when they have a couple locked onto them. For ECM users it would alert them that now is the time to use it. For Point Defence users it would tell them to start evading and praying. And I think that this is especially true if you ever plan to "flip the switch" on Engineered AIs.

IMHO, and I've suggested it before, we should be warned of a lock on attempt, and when a target has a solid lock too.

It not only works to help plan evasive manoeuvres, but the attacker can also use it to bluff it's target in to a different manoeuvre.

For example, if something is face tanking you, and you can't get in close, making it think you have a solid missile lock could cause them to take action, or make a mistake.

NPCs at higher ranks should react to lock ons aswell.

If Fdev listen to anyone else but me I hope it is you they listen to. Anytime anyone says a good Idea you always come in saying "yea already thought of that before" so clearly you are onto something.

Lol, is this the attempt to counter the tactics I posted here.

Do you not think there's already enough disadvantages to using torps? The one advantage is that you can bluff someone into wasting their countermeasures, not that they'd even need them if they had their wits about them.

In your defence, I'd not suggested torps get their own warning. Just that lock attempts and solid locks should be alerted.
I kinda just hijacked your thread.

Again. Lol

I hope it doesn't annoy anyone when I say I, or someone else has suggested it before, I'm just reinforcing the fact it's requested, and you're not alone in your idea or thinking.

No I agree with all that all good defense advice. But you are right. One part of that post did kinda prompt this. (Along with the fact I was torpedoed all of 10 minutes after talking about it) The part where you say how you use packhounds to trick them into thinking its torpedoes. You are not the first to have that idea. (maybe you are but others have caught on) As clever as that is. It is an oversight. Torpedoes function a very different role than missless. As weapon mechanics they are far too different to be lumped in the same group. They serve very different roles in PVP especially. One can usually be safely ignored and the other is essentially a one shot kill.

Yes being a two pump chump of a weapon has its downsides but for the damage it can do in such a short amount of time it really needs to be that way. it hardly has "one advantage"
