Newcomer / Intro Torpedo's or Missiles?

I just upgraded to a Cobra and I am trying to decide between Torpedo's or Missiles on my small hard points for bounty hunting missions. The rack is cheap for the Torpedo's, but they cost me 30K to replace just two of them, while I can hold many more missiles and they are so much cheaper.

What is the better weapon? and what is the difference between Torpedo's and Missiles? Sorry if this is stupid question.

Thank you!

Missiles cause a lot of hull damage and can fire heat seeking missiles that follow it's target.

Torpedoes do less hull damage but major module damage. Target a ships FSD or Power Plant and you should kill it before it's hull reaches 0%.

Shields must be down for either to be useful.

I can't say what is better since they both have their good and bad points. I don't use either since I prefer to kill on the cheap.

yeah whatever losing interest quick in this game combat is useless with keyboard and mouse.on an amigo 500 id be a major by now doing missions

I haven't found either particularly useful. Both IMO should be doing damage against hull in a big way, but they don't! "Torpedo" by definition should be an anti-capital weapon / big ship weapon, so I don't see why we should have to target a subsystem. The damage model on the Anacondas is wrong I think - why does hull damage only occur when going after subsystems? Once the system is gone, hull damage should continue, but it does not. After some experimenting, I shall stick to my multicannons - far more reliable.
