Ok, so, first off, the gunship is not a dropship variant.
Secondly, the orca is widely considered to be less useful than the dropship.

Thirdly, quit hating on the dropship! Sure, it's got it's flaws, but it packs a decent punch and you don't have to curry favor with fascist slave traders to own one. It's not such a bad ship, people just used to compare it to the python because it used to cost so much, now that it has a reasonable price, it's not so bad.

Fed Ships are ALL ships by Core Dynamics;

Eagle
Dropship
Vulture

So yeah, totally useless and unpopular Vultures, you never see a player in a Vulture, oh, wait......

Sick of this same tierd non-sense being trotted out everytime we talk about ships; oh and BTW IIRC Orca and Asp are both Alliance that's why there's a discount on them at Alliance HQ Allioth System, Irkutsk Dock.

And Orca has a use, it says to people "I have money to burn on a fast ship"...or for ramming, it's great at ramming.

...Aaaaaand I'm sick and tired of people comparing the Eagle and Vulture "Federation" ships, which are available to everyone equally, to the exclusive Imperial Couriers and Clippers. It's an obviously, emberassingly obviously, self-serving comparison.

You can think what you want, but that is lore. Being a more insular, less inclusive faction, the Empire is more likely to have exclusive stuff. Their brand is very important to them.

In the Federation, credit balance is king. Things are only exclusive if you can't afford it. Core Dynamics is a federation company...I'd bet if the Empire and Federation went to open war...finding Core Dynamics ships at Imperial stations would be difficult.
