Tourist beacons and influence?

Does having the tourist beacon have something to do with ruling faction influence? I noticed the factions who are in control of systems with beacons are in "everlasting" expansions. According to Inara - factions I'm talking about are not player ones and do not have any individual supporters. Such faction only controls home sector with the beacon and is present in ~20 system (usually with 10% of inf.) around their home system. Is there a correlation between ownership of tourist beacons and influence boosts?

No direct one, so far as I can tell, but it may attract more passing traffic and/or the systems with beacons are ones more attractive to passing traffic to start with.

Systems with little traffic, where the controlling faction gets above 75%, can just keep expanding again and again as there's no influence penalty for doing so. There's quite a few of them in my local area, slowly filling all nearby systems up to 7 factions.

Just because Inara says "no supporters", doesn't mean no-one is supporting them. I haven't told Inara about any of the two dozen NPC factions I actively support.

To answer the question directly: no, there isn't a direct correlation between tourist beacons and influence, because there is no way to interact with a tourist beacon that boosts influence for the faction "controlling" it. Missions to beacons, for example, do not require you to actually dock anywhere in that system. Any correlation is indirect:
  • Pirates that appear in Tourist Beacons are usually from the non-controlling faction; destroying them and claiming the bounty will boost the controlling faction.
  • Passing traffic visiting a beacon might stop anyway, for refuel/repair/rearm/side-trading/passenger-appeasement at a nearby station (many beacons are situated not far from the primary space station in the system).
  • Beacon-systems will often have some kind of lore-related reason for the existence of the beacon (esp in "legacy" systems inherited from the earlier games). These lore systems often have increased traffic and vested interests in supporting certain factions in-system because of the lore, not because of the beacon.
