Towing and search and rescue.

Hey guys, I am new to the game, I had a lot of trouble with flying, more specifically entering space stations.

I got stuck once under the cage in front of the entrance to a station, I couldn't move forwards or backwards, I received several consecutive fines for blocking the entrance totalling 800, before station defences turned on me and destroyed me.

This actually got me thinking, why don't stations have crew that can tow you in to the station? In the event you get stuck, you can request a towing services, you pay them a fee they tow you in to the station and on to the landing pad.

That would actually make more sense than giving you authorisation then proceed to blast you away because you got stuck and blocking the entrance.

This kind of got me thinking about the possibility for search and rescue missions for the mission board, I don't know if they already exist, but it could be find the ship in distress, conduct repairs, or if the ships are too damaged, rescue the pilot and crew and ferry them to the nearest station.

If your still having trouble with entering stations then a docking computer maybe a good investment for the time being until you get the hang of flying better. On to the point of acting as a space coast guard I personally like the idea for npc ships this would be a good addition would be akin to the salvage missions in a way. But I kinda would like to see player integration as well maybe like a distress beacon for players to use on their ships and having a mission pop up on the board saying cmdr X needs repairs and or retrieval from system Y, but alas I can also see that being abused by pirates I'm also aware that there are groups i.e. the Fuel Rats who kinda already serve a similar purpose.

While it would be nice if stuck people got released by barges and people out of fuel in the NFZ got gassed up it's probably really low on the priority list. In future, log out and log back in.

Don't feel too bad. The other day I started playing again after a gap of a few months, a similar thing happened to me. It was late one evening and after not having played for ages and ages I booted it up on my Xbox to have a quick fly about before bed.

Went to deliver some items to a station, flew in at an oblique angle and got stuck, but eventually bounced in. Then the 'get out now or you'll be zapped' warnings started: I'd not only hogged the entrance port, but had also forgotten to ask for docking permission! The countdown started, and after much panic and bouncing around into the cage and other ships I finally got out with a second or so to spare. And a few hundred credits to pay.

It happens :D

As for docking computers, I had one a few months ago when doing loads of trade runs. I just bought it out of pure laziness.
