Tracking, joysticks, yaw worry and beyond. Advice appreciated.

WARNING THE FOLLOWING IS A OPINION HELD BY THE POSTER AND NOT REALLY FACTS!!!!!

if you don't have a CH HOTAS + Pedals +TiR5/Oculus Rift then your just playing with toys. man up and get the right tools for the job

After that make sure you pick up Voice Attack to round out you new awesome and professional gear.

Haha, normally I would agree however that's a lot of outlay for a game that I might not even like :p

I have pre-orderd an x-55 from gameshark which is quite an outlay on its own, on the list for an EDtracker too.

My thinking is they can be used with eve: valkrye, star citizen, no man's sky etc...

... That's how I'm justifying it anyway!

My dilemma comes from the twist yaw control on the x-55, I would be worried about inducing yaw while rolling inadvertently, can anyone who has used this joystick or any other stick with twist yaw tell me if it's easy to get used to?

i have x55 and soon will get trackir so can only say about x55.

overall it's great stick, warthog has no stick twitch and thus you miss one degree of freedom at your hands.

you can set up dead zones to anything on x55, and i did set up small dead zones on everything so if you accidentally move just add little bit more dead zones, all configured at saitek's software, also i'm first time stick user and while first 4-5 hours i made a lot of unnecessary movement now i am used to it and i must say this: fine tuning your aim with yaw on stick twitch is very very helpful and intuitive, and only practice makes you perfect, i just used it for 3 days and bought this setup especially for ED as this game deserves to be played with style and so do i.

also consider rudder pedals, those can be used for lateral/vertical thrust, and more movement axis that you can access with your hands/legs/head the better.

so if you go for quality go for warthog, but it lucks twist and you will have to find a way to use it in other manner and in space you also have lateral/vertical, so if you want to get maximum out of space you need stick with twist and rudder pedals :)

The CH Throttle has a mini-analog joystick I plan to use for up/down & left/right translation. Should be handy, as its proportional for precise movements.

Here's Brumster's comparison of the X-52 and CH setup

If your thinking of the mini-analogue stick for thrusters, be aware it's not as gentle and analogue for docking. You need a lot of deadband as the centring is very "loose" and it's very sensitive. I found you still need to more or less pulse it when docking similar to a normal digital hat.

Superb throttle though.
