TrackIR not connecting to Elite

Hey friends,

I've reinstalled Elite after a significant period of time and it's no longer recognizing my TrackIR.

TrackIR is updated and is working with all the other games I use it for.

Does anyone have any other tips I could try? I don't think I'll be able to come back to the game without it.

try removing the bindings folder to the desktop temporarily (put it back after testing)
whilst removed a new default binding folder will be created due to it being missing see if the new one allows track ir to be recognised and work

...... Really? - I can find nothing related to TrackIR in my bindings files and it works seamlessly?

@Drofseh are you able to see this in TrackIR i.e. games list gets updated and Elite Dangerous is listed as using default profile?

Good luck

I'll give it a try.

Yup, the games list is updated and Elite appears in it.

Does your TrackIR work in its own software? I mean that XYZ graph thing that it draws on the screen.

When I played ED with that program running, it just worked. I can't remember if I had to put the game into "head look" mode or not. But it's something to try I guess.

is f9 bound to anything in game?
so you start track ir the wireframe test dummy head shows its looking around and you get the blue light come on when you play a compatible game is that correct
but in elite however you get no blue light? have you tried running in admin mode(not elite) to rule that out too?

I don't know if F9 is bound to anything in the game, but it's not bound to anything in TrackIR, I use scroll lock to reset head position.

The TrackIR dummy head moved around fine, if I load up something like Arma the lights come on and head tracking works fine and Arma shows up in the TrackIR Title field, if I load Elite it's like it thinks TrackIR doesn't exist.

that's so weird that windows update did this
change the pause key in track ir to something else not currentlybound ? mines set for track ir pause to work on f9
also when running elite have you tried running track ir in compatabilty modes for xp vista ect too?

1. I thought F9 was default "pause" in TrackIR - so maybe an issue there?

2. What do your camera LEDs display when you start Elite @Drofseh ?

3. Someone once reported that Elite Dangerous expected TrackIR to be installed in C drive and that was stopping it working for them. Could this be true?

I'll try compat modes to see if they help

1. I have all the TrackIR keys disabled except recenter so it can never be paused.

2. I get the 4 red/ir leds and the green led that shows it's tracking my hat clip.

3. I do have TrackIR installed on my D drive, I'll try moving it to C.

Success!

I reinstalled TrackIR to the default directory and Elite is now detecting it.

Thanks everyone for all of your assistance.

I have this problem now. ED was seeing TrackIR just fine. I updated my HOSAS and keybindings, and now ED does not see the TrackIR. It however is already installed on C: in the default place.

not sure if your bindings or hotas change has done this?
try my method in post 2 (assuming trak ir test wireframe is working ok)
which will mean all game controls will be default but will be ok when you put your stored folder back
remember to close down the game and restart it if playing with different bindings folders

Coming back to this topic 4 years after starting it with another issue (but I've solved it)

If you're running TrackIR as administrator you also need to run Elite as admin.
