trade: contract spamming: how profitable is it?

So since i got my cobra and upgraded it with all manner of things i can jump about 12ly. it's so much better being able to jump 12 than 7. i can get to arcturus from aluin in like two jumps, and carry 40T.

it's really fast to run trading missions now, since i'm harder, better, faster, stronger than i was in my sidewinder.

my method isn't just standard "find a mission, pick up resources, get paid", or even "buy resources, sell resources" - i've been trying to abuse the bulletin boards to see just how much you can make with the missions from like 16 stations on your terminal, so this means your trade runs are like 8 HRs long but net as much as you need them to, since you just take pretty much every contract.

when i started trading i just had a few missions at once up. this isn't a profitable way to do things unless you only take superconductor/palladium missions or something. the advantage to having a lot of missions is that you can take any cargo from any station to any other station and always make a profit, since you'll have so many missions. what you want to do is stock up resource missions IE superconductors. so you'll be flying around looking for superconductors while you do your other contracts, and when you find some you about turn and go back along your ENTIRE ROUTE.

you're all probably thinking that's not too bad, but i usually end up with 20-30+ missions at once, spread across entire sectors and net 500k profit in just a few hours.

anyone got anything faster than running as many contracts at once as possible, then? i doubt it.

Trading, I got to a point in beta 2 making 400k for a 4 jump hall, and 400k back so was like 800k 8 jumps, that was spending millions on cargo though and using a trade tool, also in a much bigger ship :)

yeah my max cargo load is 250k so i usually make 50k per jump or so

similar but not to that extent as i would quickly become confused. long term fetch missions are the way for me ever since my cobra... now i have an asp with 140t. combined with point to point trading it can be pretty well paid. and do speculative stuff now because i am friendly/allies in three systems and i know that certain missions will repeat and they seem to know what i have in my hold. so can dock at the end of a round and just cash in while getting on with something else.

yeah i like friendly systems

500k profit in a 40t ship in a few hours? A good route should earn 1k / ton on the single jump. Making 80 k on thr round trip (10 minutes), and 480k in an hour.

So no, I am not impressed.
