Trade dividends

Hi All,

I'm stupid i know but i just learned there are "trade dividends"

Looked it up:

"Trade Dividends are received when in a wing with someone who makes a profitable trade, so long as you are in or outside to the station where goods are being sold. They are vouchers for a payment of credits, awarded by starports to encourage traders to group up in the system.

They may be handed in at any starport in the system, via the Starport Services Menu → Contacts → Local Security Office.

All wingmen in the group get a 5% bonus of the commodity's profit being sold.

Formula: Profit Per Ton * Amount Sold * 0.05 = Trade Dividend "

Saw so many cmdr's at a great eddb.io loop this weekend. Now i will be asking a lot to wing up with me.
Have you had any experience with this???

Yeah, you get 5% of the profit. Which isn't much at all.

You get the same for multi-crew if the pilot sells cargo.

Personally it isn't worth it unless your wing are all moving at the same time and rate. If your round trip takes 10 mins and 1 of the wing members seems to take 5 mins extra... your overall credits per hour are going to drop massively.
Add in the docking bug while in a wing (you enter the starport, every dock blurs so you can't see properly and the game effectively turns off rotational correction with no way to reverse this) and it really isn't worth it!

Thanks for explaining. Was so excited to hear about this. I saw the credits rolling in already :).
And 5% of 3 mil is still 150K( single hop) , But when losing much time its not so great anymore.

I have, and sadly it's such a small amount that it doesn't amount to much that I often don't even bother turning it in for days.

But because it's something, I do try and wait until my wingmates are very close to the station prior to turning in my missions (when I remember)

That said, I wish there was some way to share profits in multi-crew, until there is there's not much reason to play it on a regular basis other than for combat :-(

There are a few ways to make use of Trade Dividends and a few times and places they are the most useful.

1. Trade Goods CG's

Wing up with as many commanders as you can, and fly together, trade together and profit together.

2. Cargo Dumps

If you're helping a down-on-their-luck/new commander make some quick credits by gifting them a cargo-hold full of Palladium, be sure to wing up with them and follow them back to the station where they're going to sell this stuff for profit. They'll make far more this way then taking trade dividends from you, and you'll make back some portion of what you spent on that cargo as well - it's a win/win for both of you.

3. Anti-piracy

Got a player pirate hounding you for a couple tons of what you're hauling? Invite them to a wing for 5% of your total haul, as many times they'll make more from that than the few tons of cargo they're asking for in the first place. Again, a win-win.

4. "Surprise, Free Credits!"

Perhaps one of my favorites. I'm prone to scavenging, and I love Taaffeite. A full Type-9 of this (424 tons for me) fetches a very nice 8,775,104 credits pure profit where I usually sell it. And 5% of that is 438,755 credits, and no one ever complains. I just pull in to a station and broadcast "Free credits, wing with me." which is nearly always followed by "Holy [expletive], what did you just sell?!" It's a great way to make friends too.

For multi-crew, can you lock down everything on your ship so that your crew doesn't break anything and can't actually do anything? I am considering "free money for newbies tours" on my Cutter.

Trade dividends are nice, but they need a serious shot in the arm - 10% is good, IMO.

Bit of a thread necro but this one came up on a Google search.

The flat 5% is nice, but I like the idea of it being tied to trade rank. Maybe 2% per rank of person carrying the cargo + 1% rank of the recipient? Someone with a higher trade rank should be able to get more money for their wingmates, and a wingmate with a high trade rank should get a bit more from the deal as well. Maybe keep a 5% minimum; but then I (Entrepreneur) could get a newer friend (Peddler) 12% profit share.

Maybe cut those a bit - no lower than 1%/.5% - but I think it'd be a nice side benefit to the rank.
