Trade questions

I've been flying around imperial space for a while and haven't found much for "good" trade routes. I finally stumbled on one that is a 2-way route and averages 950cr/tonne. However, I've heard of people doing much better.
What is a good trade route profit/tonne margin that would be acceptable to stay at and trade for a while?
Also, what are the better commodities lately to trade and what kind of systems should I look for in order to get a good trade route going?

Thanks for any and all help!

I wouldn't avoid outposts unless you need a large landing pad. My current route is 2 outposts and 2.5K/t round trip.
Agriculture/Extraction to High Tech/Refinery no more than 1 jump between, stations no more than 200ls from entry point. Not hard to find 2.4-2.6k/t round trip runs with those those guide lines.
Gold & palladium one way and performance enhancer or consumer tech back are the most common items. Because of how the mechanics currently work any item with a high supply buy price less than around $6,400 is basically worthless to a trader a side from rare occasions.

Most of my trading time is spent in Fed space, I've noticed Empire is a bit different in that low buy price for metals is harder to find. Result my vary slightly for each faction.

I found one last night in empire space that was beryllium one way and imperial slaves the other. 1.4K per tonne. As for it being acceptable that is up to you my friend, I am happy with what I get and I am not after the ultimate run, just a good profit. as for what to trade in in empire space, then it will be imperial slaves, palladium, beryllium, superconductors, performance enhancers, resonating separators tend to be the most lucrative.
