Trade Rank Exploit

No. Not everyone plays that way. I don't care what exploits you use to make billions. What ship you are flying interests me not in the slightest. If this attitude inspires you to insult me, go right ahead.

And, as I've said before in this thread. My issue with Sothis is the stupid poo trading. Cargo scanners make any amateur attempts at disguising cargo useless. So the poo is poo. There is a commodity at Sothis worth millions to smuggle 100s of ly, the game should use this.

You don't care, yet you want it to be closed.

Gnnnnnn

No. He thinks it should be made better; he doesn't have an issue with the payouts, but with the ridiculous nature of the commodity involved. Try reading it again.

How did you make Elite in trading?

a) Smuggling into black markets and running rares.

b) Full on trading, pioneering trade routes across the bubble.

c) As an imperial slave trader.

d) Hauling canisters of excrement on 400ly runs.

OP's argumentation is invalid but he has a point: Trade elite is way too easy. Even Pre-2.1 combat elite was a lot harder

Sorry for my wording, I was quite agitated when I wrote that down. In all seriousness, it seems like there is a growing group of experienced CMDR's (a.k.a. CMDR's who have arrived in the absolute end'game') who are unhappy with new players getting to the bigger leagues fast with systems like Sothis and try to thwart them with every single step. That is elitist bullsothis cargo IMHO. It was never meant to be a personal attack on you and I'm sorry if it seemed like one.

It's only poo if you think it's poo. It's actually bio-medical waste being weaponised by the Fed's.

Nice try. But there are already some pretty nasty bioweapons in the game.

Biowaste missions generate in Sothis because the mission generation code can't find anything else being produced in the station. It's a pity that the code doesn't take rare goods into account.
All the rare goods stations should be generating long range missions for rare goods, including rare goods that are illegal.

Wouldn't that make them less rare?
I mean, if you can fill up a T9 with rare goods from missions, then the whole principle of them only being available in small quantities and there being a maximum you can carry goes out of the window.
Plus the fact that they're worth more the further you travel becomes irrelevant.
Leave rare goods alone, thanks :p

OP does have a point. Are pizza delivery guys - traders?

Similarly, since when is an adept 18 wheel truck driver known as a Tycoon or entrepreneur ?

Haulers could have their own rank as they still have to learn to fend off attacks and or attack the attacker.

FD simply needs to use the Oxford dictionary more often.

And its not about what a rank means to anyone, its about in game feedback about what you are doing.

The fact that they are only available from one place is what makes them rare. The piddling allocation mechanism just makes them frustrating.

edit - The rare good in Sothis is currently staying rare because it isn't worth using up the cargo space because it is more proffitable to carry poo. "Leaving rare goods alone" is happening already.

Lol, talking about trading as if it was a skill. It's just time. Nobody cares what rank you are. Trade rank = meaningless. Combat rank = meaningless. Exploration rank = if you it elite there congrats for being able to stay out there for so long without bubble withdrawl.

Combat rank is no longer meaningless. It determines what you are up against.

Elite rank gets you access to Shinrarta Dezhra, which is a bit less meaningless than most other permits. With 2.2 there will be an engineer there. Granted the 2.2 engineers are pretty useless, but it adds to the value of a Shinrarta Dezhra permit.

So the Sothis poo haulers quickly get access to:

  • Shipyard with all ships
  • Complete outfitting
  • 10% discount
  • Rare good
  • New engineer (also needs combar rank)

I can see why the engineer was further locked behind a combat rank.

I think the reality is that they are all meaningless to the outside observer ie ... anyone but yourself. YOU and YOU alone know what you have done in order to achieve Elite in the 3 genre.

If you think spending 6 months scouring the galaxy is worth its money and gaining Elite on return is worth it.... then it's worth it. If farming the Neutron field endlessly to get Elite is worth it to you ... then it's worth it. Same outcome to the outsider.
Combat Elite is no measure of skill. I'm 50% Deadly, but I'm no combat expert with all the moves. I've just spent enough time in CZ's and RES's to get me that far. (I play the BGS, so thats why in my case)
Trade rank is what it is. You've traded. Be that Smuggling poo or pushing Algae. To anyone outside .... you've traded 1 Billion in credits or whatever the amount is. Nothing more.

And until the Engineer is there, it gives you nothing you can't find anywhere else just cheaper and in one place (oh and a Rare good ... wow)

So ultimately they are all meaningless. Apart from your own viewpoint.

Wouldn't that make them less rare?
Modular Terminals then? They're supposed to be common.

I think OP is really just trying to address how trading profits have been inflated over the past year without any commensurate raising of the bar to reach Elite Trader.

Although he may be in error as to the specifics, the core issue he's raising seems fair enough.

Combat is actually harder now as general TTK is higher. Exploration went through a phase where the achievement level requirements were raised.

It seems only fair that with incredibly higher profits available now, there should be some adjustment to the requirement to hit Elite Trader.

One Percent, the first triple Elite in the game, took about 3 months to attain that goal. Now I've recently seen a player who did it in 3 weeks.

But the problem the OP is trying to introduce is trying to gain 600million credits in a reasonable time frame. Not grinding for a month just move up 1 tier in trade rank

Only up to 140 ly, which in sothis's case sucks because the closest station you could sell it to for max profit is like 300ly away
