Newcomer / Intro Trade route shows export but there're no commodities

Hey!

I'm at LP 385-58, one of the factions there need Personal Weapons, I go to the Galaxy Map, hit View, and hide all trade routes except for Personal Weapons. Now I can see a blue line being animated from the system Pyemsito to LP 385-58, I assume this means Pyemsito exports Personal Weapons to LP 385-58. I go to Pyemsito's only starbase Sanger Hub and to my dismay the item isn't even listed. There's neither demand nor supply for it. The item isn't there.

So, just now I found out Personal Weapons are prohibited in that starbase! There's no Black Market on Sanger Hub either.

So... How do I interpret this data? Because it seems very contradictory. How can there be a trade route if the item is prohibited? Is it because it's being smuggled somehow?

Thanks guys!

I'm loving this game!

Not sure of this case, but the trade route info on the Galaxy map is notoriously garbage.
Get Slopeys trade tool, it will at least allow you to find commodities easily even if you don't want to use it to its fullest

1) Have you bought updated trade data for the system? 2) I'm fairly convinced that the galactic map also shows information from 'bad' trades, i.e. if someone makes a mistake, and dumps cargo on a market at a loss, then that appears as a trade on the map, which can fool more people into making a mistake - how bright and thick was the line? (They are proportional to the volumes being traded) 3) As 100thmonkey said, outposts? 4) Above all, don't trust the map too much! :(

There are websites out there which show you exactly which station in which system sells a certain commodity if you really can't find it in time. I wouldn't recommend making a habit out of using said tools though, they ruin the fun a bit if you ask me.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the prompt responses!

1) Hmm, how do I know whether or not my data is up to date?
2 and 4) Yeah, the trade routes in the Galaxy Map don't seem to be very reliable.
3) Nope, I looked for those.

I finally found some at an Alliance station, and this time the Galaxy Map was giving me the right info.

Thanks again!
