Trade routes.

So I've used the filters in the view tab of the galaxy map.

I have nothing checked except, show trade routes and the 1 commodity I'm looking for.

I'm in a system that has 3 lines leaving the system, indicating there should be the commodity available in the system.

Yet, I've docked at both stations in the sector, and neither of them sell the commodity.

Can someone explain what I'm doing wrong please? Or advise me why the commodities aren't there, when the trade routes show they should be?

Seems bugged. Happens to me still. They say they export from a system that actually has a demand for them, which is seriously misleading and dumb. Send in a ticket if you feel like it.

Take a screenshot of the galaxy map and each commodity screen.. It will help if its a bug.

Could it be that they have just run out of stock perhaps?
The Ai's are currently trading in the spaceship equivalent of:

FD are aware of this issue and looking into it.

This has actually been discussed often. One of the things I covered in my twitch stream was my entire reasoning for focusing on combat right now, I'm unwilling to use third party sites for trading. The ingame Import/export is borked, but many people use external websites to design routes for profits.

Me, I'll continue streaming my explosions of wanted targets in every nav beacon I cross....I love my Viper <3.....that being said, when they get around to fixing the in game trade system, I'll give it a shot with a hauler or something cheap.

Just because a system is an exporter of a product doesn't mean they will have stock of that product.

An agriculture station could be an exporter of fruits and vegetables, but if players (and NPC) traders have moved all of their stock out to other systems, they won't have any.

On another note though, there is currently a known issue where the NPC trade AI has caused stations to go from importing an item to exporting it. An industrial station that normally imports fruit and vegetables and gets an over-supply of them will end up selling fruit and vegetables instead. It's an issue the devs are aware of and are working on a fix. Here's the thread explaining that with the dev responses:

Thanks for the replies guys.
Still in my freebie swinders, think I'll do the same s you Mark and get another viper. Problem is it's a long way to go for the slave conflict zone.
