Trade with alien races.

So here’s my hope for the future.

Once the present skirmish with the thargoids is over we will see the permit locked systems will be opened and we find ourselves able to visit them and interact with the thargoids on a level other than the gun. This would mean we get to visit new alien stations to trade for goods and tech maybe even ships. There would be missions from the thargoids to enable greater access to their civilisation.

anyone else hoping for this? Or is it just blood guts and glory that is hankered for?

I'm hoping we'll get access to the permit locked systems...when thanks to Autonomous Military Units, Aegis Tech and anything new we learn from the Guardians...every last Thargoid base/installation is a smoking uninhabited ruin for us to pick over...

Maybe, just maybe, there is another alien race out there that prefers trading?

Although why the bugs want to invade the bubble, where we have little of the favoured planet types that they would breed in is beyond me.

It's not the Thargoids we need to worry about, it's whatever they're running from. Which probably won't be interested in trading.

Maybe they really hate trading and that's why they're running.

I mean, I know many humans playing Elite who would rather cut their right arm of than spend a day trucking.

Yes, I’d like to see more ways to interact with the Thargoids, but I don’t think that the combat option or the conflict in general will be ending anytime soon. I’m sure that FD could accommodate both camps. There was a brief thread on this subject just the other day, so you’re not alone in this.
