Traders, has this happened to you?

A station lists a commodity (typically high-profit items like P.Cells, P.E. , etc) at a certain price, but when you return with those goods to sell and expecting a big payout the price is suddenly reduced (and not because of increased supply; the first time you see the price it's, say, 7500 cr, but every subsequent time it's permanently reduced to some new price even if you're not carrying that particular item). This only happens with a very few expensive commodities; low-value never have this immediate drop in sell-to-station price.

Maybe this will be fixed in Power Play...

Station prices vary depending on how much stations are supplied, if you are running a trade route that a lot of other traders are using as well, this can happen, because someone else supplied a lot and then demand will fall.
This happens regardless solo/group/open, all affect same stations as you play in.

I have had supply go from 200k to 100k in about 8 minutes and change back just as fast. It doesn't always happen. In fact it's pretty random when it happens. And I would be the only player at that station so it's not like other people affect it that I can see.
The thing seems pretty screwed up as the price fluctuates far too much to be considered realistic.

People playing in solo could be trading in the same station as well. That is why the game requires your connection to the internet to be always on, because even if your playing in solo mode, your buying and selling still affect the market to the people playing in open mode.

Yeah, no. The demand goes from 100k to 50k within 15 minutes, and then back up the next 15 minutes. That is not due to other people trading. Its some leveling mechanism that you don't make too much, or a bug.

You won't see players not in your instance while playing in Open.
You won't see players playing in Groups while you're playing in Open.
You won't see players playing in Solo while you're playing in Open.
You won't see players who visit the station when you're not there.

There are several ways supply and demand can be affected, not all of them will be waving a flag at you so you can see them. Despite the way things may look or feel at times, you are not alone in the universe. :D

I play solo and have seen prices change.

Paranoia had me thinking FD was messing with me, but then logically, if players change the market and I was going for the best profit at the time; someone else was.

Arry.

Solo is just a private group of one. Whether you are in solo, private group or open makes no difference to prices. Just because you do not see a Player at a station while you are there, doesn't mean no one is trading there.

Also , stock levels and prices are updated for the 'invisible' NPC traders that are supposedly working the routes too every XX minutes , those ill affect prices when the 'tick' happens.

You see everyone who enters that system by looking at the traffic report Online or Solo. If No one enters the system, they sure aren't getting to the stations.

So how often is the traffic report, up-dated?

I have asked, as have docked once and my type of ship was not in that report. This made me think it was just ED making it up as it goes along.

Arry.

Server ticks methinks. Not sure of the exact durations but in Beta, the missions would refresh every 5 minutes.

I have run routes with few players and had prices fluctuate littke but then fliown the same routes in wings (combos if T9, Anaconda, T7 etc) and had the prices change and profits drop. I have also seen the same when the route is discovered by Players not in my wing and had the same.

Leave the routes alone for a while and they seem to recover quickly.

It's whack I say, my current route I sell prog cells to station B and bring back Palladium to A, every time I go to station B with no prog cells it shows buys for 7502, but when I go there fully loaded buy price is 7200, everytime. Sometimes I'll take food there if I do an a-b-c run and no matter what, if I have no prog cells the buy price 7502 even if i have 1 prog cell loaded just for testing the buy price is 7200. Whack...
