Trading Anaconda

Hi all,

Been away for a couple of years but was working towards a trading Anaconda when I stopped playing. Can anyone link or recommend a build with some cargo hold but also some decent weapons / fighting ability and maybe a fighter bay or two? Willing to spend 200-250m cr ish. Many thanks.

If your doing trading itd be better to buy a type 9 transporter

Cheers, already have one so I was looking to buy something that can still transport but will also not handle like a bus and has some punch as well. I realise I’ll have to take a big reduction in overall cargo capacity.

Unless you plan to trade in open you wont need weapons. Just the ability to boost and, depending what you are doing a sheild. Im not going to say its fact but i suspect you can avoid being shot at by submitting to interdiction and dropping a heatsink or two while boosting away while the FSD recharges

Thanks for responses, it’s not a self-defence thing I more just wanna branch out so I can take other jobs rather than just chugging along in my giant T9. Making dollar but would like to pilot something that has a bit more agility and punch if I wanna fight something.

My "multi-role" Annies: https://s.orbis.zone/1Ot-

Thing with the big ships is that you'll get some pretty serious ships attacking you while you're flying them so you're going to want some equally serious defences if you want to fight back successfully.

If you're okay with running away, a T9 is more cost-effective but if you want to be able to fight, you're going to have to spend quite a bit on an Annie.
Cheaping-out on a big ship like an Annie is asking for pain, frustration and rebuys.

A fighter bay isn't worth it, IMHO.

I recommend fitting weapons and engineering the shields, weapons, distributor, and FSD at least to grade 3, which is easy (if you have the engineers unlocked), and will make a huge difference.

But don't forget that running away is a perfectly honorable option for a trader.

True enough.

I mostly fit one for the yucks.
If I'm running a cargo mission and I get attacked by, say, a chain of Clippers or fed piggies, I know they're not going to be able to do any serious damage so I leave my SLF jockey to fly the ship while I have a bit of fun in the SLF.

If I was running cargo missions/trading and needed an extra 64t of cargo space, I'd bin the SLF bay without a 2nd thought.

Jack of all trades, master of none. Don't bother fighting pirates or griefers. Pretty easy to get 1000MJ+ out of a class 4 shield generator on the Conda due to the low hull mass. Combine that with a full set of countermeasures and you shouldn't have any problems.

Consider the T10, more cargo space and hardpoints than an Anaconda more agility and punch than the Cutter rivalling T9.

230millon assuming you've already bought the base ship. Bit of a multirole, but focused on cargo capacity

No engineering.

Gives you reasonable shields, a mix of turrets and gimballed weapons for casual combat / running away.

Couldn't afford military hull.

I'd focus on engineering the FSD to get the range up - makes life so much nicer. Then save your pennies for a class 8 powerplant so you can add hungry things like shield boosters.

An Anaconda is OK, but for me and for local trading, a Corvette is better as it can carry more cargo and is more fun to pilot.

Once I got a Cutter, the Anaconda was stripped and sold for scrap.

I worked my way up with a Python which can make you some serious money, then the Corvette and lastly the Cutter.

Take your time and enjoy the ride but remember to have enough for multiple re-buys after you buy your big.

Thanks again everyone. Is a fuel scoop definitely needed for an Anaconda?

A fuel scoop is ALWAYS necessary, even if it's only a small one.

You never know when/if you're going to be one jump away from an empty tank and get attacked, forcng you to high-wake, and end up in a system with no station where you can refuel.
If you're going out into the Pleiades, too, you can be hyperdicted by 'goids and end up wasting a heap of fuel attempting to make the same jump several times.

I use a lightweight Conda with Guardian FSD booster and scoop. I get 58+ ly jumps laden.
Obviously not a good Open build as no protection.
