Trading efficiency by Ship

I'm very interested in the fact that the clipper outperforms the Python in profit per hour.

Does the difference in speed really outweigh the difference in cargo capacity?

Got a python today, def outperforms the t7. Fuel is about 10-18 units of cargo for me so another 34+ more per round, and its faster. Easier to squeeze through station opening as well. Had no shield in t7 so paid a little in hull. Python has 3a, so far no scratches. Very happy. And I have 3l, 2m guns

If you save 2 minutes on a route that normally takes you 10, thats a 20% increase in profits. Over time, that adds up rather quick. I make way more in the anaconda then I did in the T9, just because of speed, even with less cargo capacity.

I think that trade ship efficiency is something like Anaconda > Python > Clipper/T9 > T7, at least thats how i rate them lol, so much like OP's table.

I think your profit per hour is well off on the type 7 as i'm hitting 2.5 mil an hour with it and haven't even found an optimized route for it yet and that's with 216 tons.

you getting 5 2ways an hour in a type 7? Thats pretty good you know, its not maximum but thats both good piloting on a reasonable route I don't think his numbers are too bad (guessing on trips btw just crunched some numbers and 5 was 2300cr/t which is a fairly achievable number on a decent route)

If you noticed on the table, I based the numbers on 10 minute trips, 1000 credits per ton. It's just a baseline for comparison. If you want to compare it to numbers you see in game, you would need to scale all the formulas accordingly. It doesn't really matter what value of trip time and credit per ton you use, the other numbers would scale evenly.

So once you have a Clipper, it's pointless to upgrade to a Type-9? That really doesn't sound like what the devs intended.

What about time spent in super-cruise versus time spent docking? Maneuverability is still an asset in super-cruise, but speed and acceleration is uniform across all ships. Unless trading between stations less than 100 light seconds from stars I would think the similarity in super-cruise times would even out the speed modifier quite a lot.
