Ships Trading Imperial Clipper

Bit much defense there. SCB on a trading ship ? You're losing quite some tons of cargo there. Max with minimum shields would be 240t. And you don't really have to worry about defense. The Clipper is one of the two fastest ships, you can always escape.

Another Clipper is indeed the ony thing that can mean trouble, as it can keep up and masslock you. In that case, jump to another system, masslock doesn't apply then.

Only other CMDRs in Clippers will try this tactic. NPC Clippers don't boost after you, you can simply outrun them. The chances of running into a CMDR in a Clipper trying to kill other CMDRs are very slim.

Which is interesting, as it seems like this ship would make a really noce pirate vessel. Anyway, I'm all set up now. Time to trade in my soul for some profits.

The issue with Clipper as a pirate ship is that it isn't really great on weapons, the hardpoints (2 large, 2 medium) are poorly placed and it requires significant skill in both outfitting and flying to create a good working ship.
Most pirates tend to use FDL's, Pythons or Anacondas for their fire superiority and "ahem" fear factor.

Also if you have 4 pips to engines and 2 to systems its still quite difficult for a Clipper to keep up, they'd have to be 4 pips engines and 2 pips weapons meaning their damage is lowered. Even with a basic shield you won't take serious damage, you may get a scratch or two requiring repairs but as above the chance of player pirates in Clippers happening to target you is pretty low, they tend to avoid the fast ships since its much harder for them...

I don't have yet a clipper and also my trading skills are ...... ahem "mostly penniless". But what i really know is how to run when i am in trouble. So in my opinion a good trading ship, in open of course i play exclusively in open, really need a very good chance to run. This is my link for a future clipper if i will get how to trade ofc:
If someone interdicts you submit then high jump and in this time spam the scb. The 345 MJ shield and scb should get you a nice buffer before you high jump.
Disclaimer: all of this is theory crafting for me because first i need the credits for this and second i really need to learn how to trade which for me until now it's really incomprehensible (and boring let's not forget boring).
