Trading imperial slaves

Exporting statistic on imperial slaves

New to trading, and decided to try my hand at that. Using the guide: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=91538

I finally found a wealthy large population system with a handy station close by after 2 hours of searching. Problem is, the only commodity worth mentioning is imperial slaves. So I'm checking the exported to systems, and in each and every station or outpost I checked, Imperial Slaves are listed as Prohibited.

Does this mean:
a) the prohibited list is bottywater
b) they're sold on the black market at half price. Which makes exporting the blokes a very bad business decision all around.
c) Something else entirely.

Confused Ziggy is confused.

edit: I'm looking for information on the commodity market screen, where it lists the systems for export. And how it's possible that listed systems have these goods prohibited in each and every station/outpost.

It's more than likely Imperial Slaves are prohibited in the systems you're looking at.

Things are only sold on the black market at half-price if they're stolen. If you're buying legal and selling at a prohibited jurisdiction (classic smuggling), the price is subject to supply and demand, with a small (too small) markup If there's a demand. You might be able to make a turnover doing it, but I've never found Imperial Slaves to be that profitable, to be honest.

Good luck and profits to you! o7

Yeah, they are. On each and every station and outpost in the systems they are exported to. So system X exports imp slaves to system Y. Where they are prohibited.

Indeed. So how does it make sense to export slaves there?

I started this evening with the intend of making sense of this trading malarky, and it's a rabbithole. Stranger and stranger.

Good luck and profits to you! o7
Thanks, and the same to you :)

I made a ton of money off a trade route that was Imperial Slaves for Gold/Palladium. Where I was shipping the imperial slaves from a high populated high tech station to a lower population refinery outpost. Was making ~ 1-1.3K/Ton each way; loaded up a T-6 and bought a Vulture in no time (and kept the T-6)

Outposts

Empire Space
You really get to appreciate verbs when they're not around :)

If you mean: you can trade them in Empire Space. I know that.
If you mean: outposts have black markets where you can trade them. They sure do.

I'm trying to figure out how to make sense of the information I'm given :)

You'll make the most using outposts assuming you're flying a python. The Imperial part is meaning that you won't find any prohibition on Imp slaves in Imp systems. (complete assumptions)

But if you're flying a Conda then the only useful advice he gave was "Empire Space".

Sorry.. I get to the point of fewer words are better

Empire space is the only area to comfortably trade Slaves... Imperial or otherwise (Federation controlled space is a no no..... forget black market trading ... the returns are far too low.. ok for the odd pick up but life is to short))

Spaceports are more likely to have a prohibition on trading Imperial slaves/Slaves depending on ruling Faction

My best trading route, so far, is Beryllium/Superconductors to Outpost > Imperial Slaves back to ..... Outpost... Empire

I've included a few verbs for ya ;)

EDIT

Once you have traded with the Station and surrounding systems the export/import data is shown in the far right col. .... it shows system not individual stations/outpost

The alt. is to buy trade info from the galaxy map when you left click on a system

I suppose the info for export is still shown (even if banned) because you can smuggle them in ??

Hi Ziggy. Ignore the exported to. Use the system map for more correct information.

My first rule is never use a trade tool for trading (use it for finding non lethal weapons etc for missions) and head away from the main busy sectors.

I made my money from imp slaves

Hi Ziggy. My first rule is always use a trade tool for trading. To do otherwise would be to turn a blind eye to how business is transacted today using existing technology and in the year 3300 when they'll have even better ways at acquiring market data. So, keep in the spirit of role playing by making use of the tools to your heart's content. Personally, I use Slopey's tool. With it, you can find where Imp Slave trading can be profitable. But, as another mentioned, I've never made much money trading slaves.

I appreciated the reply, and I appreciate this one. :)

Found a couple of places that will buy them. Now checking those out whether they have some stuff for the return trip.

The thing is, there were 2 systems listed where each and every station has imp slaves prohibited. So I was wondering why they would be listed when you have to sell them on the black market.

Makes no sense :)

Consider exported to ignored.

I also don't want to use any trade tools. Just the information the game provides, however shoddy it may be :)

Seeing how business is transacted today, I'll be happy to turn a blind eye ;)

There are stations or outposts in the system that likely don't care whether or not you sell slaves. So System-wide, they are banned, but in that specific outpost/station, you can sell them.

Ziggy I have never used a trade tool for trading and I guarantee I am making more money than the people that do. The best trade routes are the ones that only you know about. I have a few great trade routes where I am the only one that is in the system traffic reports.

Plus taking a few hours out to find a trade route is one of the more fun things to do in game.

I am trading Imp Slaves from an outpost to a Federation Coriolis Starport, getting 1300 per ton
in a Python with 256 cargo space, and Gold on the return, at 1500cr per ton, and its only two jumps.
