Trading in an Anaconda v a Type 9

Hi all, im just on the verge of being able to afford a basic outfitting of an Anaconda and an looking to switch from my Type 9. Would trading be quicker in the Anaconda, and would the beneft be immediately obvious. This is the suggested layout in the link below with ~ 170 mil credit in total. Any advice appreciated

Yes definately it will be better than lakon 9.

because:
a) lakon 9 even with good thrusters is less versitile than anaconda,
b)personal experience, tried both
c) anaconda higher speed, so your reach the station or make first jump faster
d) safer...a human pirate will definatelly attack type-9...but anaconda? he will have a 2nd thought

There is also a nice video in the youtube of Kornelius Briedis, pm me to send you link. It talks about all the best trading ships pros/cons...

Hope I helped you commander!

Also ships as small as an Asp can mass lock a T9. Nothing mass locks an Anaconda, and NPCs don't really interdict Anacondas either. You get interdicted in a T9 about 3 times as often and it will usually be a Python or Anaconda, they can potentially mess you up before you escape. You still get Pythons and Anacondas when you are in one of your own but not as often and you can easily escape or destroy them.

Any advice appreciated
Switch the 6C shield generator for a 4A; it's lighter, cheaper, will give you an extra 48T of cargo space and the 373 shield rating it yields is still more than enough to absorb docking accidents or fire from pirates long enough for you to frame shift away.

true story!

The real question is, are you flying in Open Play or Solo?

If you're in Open, a T9 is literally a flying pinata waiting to be popped. My T9 has been interdicted at least five times during my brief 2-week airtime, got shot down twice, managed to destroy the pirating Cmdr twice, though the damage caused to my T9 is about as much as the profit of an hour's trade. Not the best way to make money unless you can find a rather low profile trading route.

Anaconda, on the other hand, doesn't have much to worry about pirates. For obvious reasons.

It also has a much better jump range, much less fuel consumption, and much better agility (for a massive ship) in both normal flight and supercruise. You can also outfit an Anaconda for battle. Yes, a basic Anaconda cost about twice as much as a T9 and has less cargo hold, but you don't have nearly as much things to worry about.

If you're flying in solo, however, T9 all the way. A T9 could easily squash any NPC the game throws at you up to Asp, and with some practice I've managed to defeat Fed Dropship and Emp Clippers with it too.

After almost 700,000,000 in trade this is about the best Anaconda trade setup, the setup you made is lacking in range big time cutting into possible profits

The Type 9 was King of trade, but in FD's wisdom when it comes to nerfing trade routes (don't get me started) all trade routes have been nerfed by limiting available stock and restocking time. This has a dynamic effect on the Type 9, you'll burn through routes in a few minutes to a few hours forcing you to move or extent your travel time, the latter of the two is NOT ideal for the Type 9 because of fuel cost and speed (or should I say lack of) resulting in profit loss over time.

ANACONDA

Because of the Anaconda's speed and range it doesn't suffer as much with the nerfs that are in place right now. Although it doesn't carry as much, it can make more trips resulting in a higher profit over time.. UNTIL THEY NERF IT.. and they will..

SO IF YOUR ROUTE IS:

Under 13ly or multiples of jumps of 13ly max 2 the Type 9 is possibly still viable

Has jumps longer than 13ly the Anaconda is your best bet..

is it smaller and eaier thank the T9 to dock?

It's only half as wide but about twice as thick. It also has a gigantic "nose" as opposed to T9 with its cockpit right up front, so you may have trouble lining up with the keyhole in the first day. But you'll get used to it.

great advice guys, now a proud owner of the Anaconda. Although im not too keen on the lengthy bonnet ;')

welcome to the club!

you will want to upgrade fsd and lighten it up, and get a nice fuel scoop too!

You can also squeeze an anaconda past most ships NPC's that are crawling out the middle of the docking slot where as the T-9 needs to wait. :)

RESPECT TO CMDR THRUDDDDD! <3

thanks for elitetradingtool man!!
