Trading is still broken

Not made a loss since 2.06 as well on ANY trade run, yes I use the tools, but remember they are an aid not a get rich quick button, it gives you a good indication that is all. Use your head too,, just like in real life you have to put a little bit of work into making a profit from trade. For example if I get to my target station and they no longer have a demand for what im carrying due to other traders, this is after all a dynamic economy, then I take a peek at the map choose my next destination and go there instead, the worst I have ever had to visit is only three stations to make a decent profit and the last two were in the same system. So no its not BROKEN as people like to put it, its working just like a DYNAMIC economy should.

Last night I focused on trading between random systems, wherever the galaxy map led me..

I am still seeing oversupply issues, resulting in stations that 'import' goods having high supplies of it..
Surely they would stop importing before they have 5 million in excessive stocks which they now sell off cheap.

Generally though, I have found it to be much better than earlier gamma versions.. I do still think it perhaps needs a slight tweak.

Whatever they did is having an effect. I don't expect to make 1.2k per tonne on every single run I make either, just to clarify... but I wouldn't expect a consumer to become a supplier either.

The main problem of trading now is a lack of demand.
Since the gamma 2.06 I haven't met not a single system with "high" demand. And I think that this is a bug, because numbers don't change at all nor up nor down regardless of your actions.

That's true also, but I am still finding lots of above GA prices (on average perhaps 300cr above) even with medium demand (and high demand quantities).

I have seen some supply/demand figures change, but usually not the larger figures, only those < 1,000 (iirc)

Quick observation on this.
Logged out at Mars High the night before launch.
Logged back in the night of launch.

Prices were identical for every single commodity in the station. I have not seen that before, usually there is a small fluctuation over a 24 hour period.
Sadly I can't remember if the stock and the demand levels were the same as the day before.

Of Course. I also found some routes but with my T9 all below 500 cr per ton almost unprofitable. And more than 800 I haven't seen. So, I was forced into a very hard and uncomfortable frame.

High demand does seem to be a thing of the past. The economic system may need more time to adjust to the recent changes, but I'm guessing that medium is the new high. Margins aren't what they were, but it's still fun to discover good high supply to medium demand trades. I can't say that the pure commodity trade runs aren't still profitable. It'd still be really cool to encounter the occasional high demand, even if it dries up quickly after a few runs.

I guess the current situation is a bug and a feature at the same time. It's mostly about nerfing trade to get it more in line with other money making opportunities such as bounty hunting.

This is not a question of economics. It's just a bug. The numbers just don't change. I tested this issue on a small demand, with my T9 this is simple.
For example, a "mid" offer of 5000t of a cons products I turn into a demand for 5 runs. But I can't change any demand for even a credit.

There is an issue with the AI trading that we are currently looking into.

Michael

Perhaps, one of the causes of the problem, if it is the problem, is abnormal traffic reports. I fly in an area where few players and it turns out, that the most popular vessel among NPC is Type 9 heavy. Almost always it is #1 in a list. That is a bit strange.

It's better than it was i actually found nice 2.4k cr per tonne profit on shipping gold over 4 jumps in imperial space this morning had to go out as soon as i found it so hopefully i shall milk that this evening not sure about the retun leg yet
