Trading Profit and Trade Rank Question

A quick question if I may as I'm a bit puzzled..

I am currently at Trading Rank Entrepreneur, and working towards Tycoon.

Now it says that my progress is 50%, and my current Trading Profit is 232,905,430 CR, not including profit from missions.

Now I've read on the Wiki and elsewhere that to get to Tycoon, approx. 390,000,000 CR Trading profit is required.

But with ~233M profit this should mean that I am well over 50% progress towards Tycoon right? By my calculation I should be at least 59%?

Can anyone shed any light please.

If I'm not mistaken the percentage is only considering the distance between the last rank and the next. So subtract the 140mil of Entrepreneur from both the Tycoon 390 and your total to figure out a percentage.

Bashing it out on my phone at work you're only at 36% ...so I don't know. I'll work on this more once I'm off work & can think.

There's this note in the Wiki though:
Note- Profit from many trade (for example Boom Time Trade)/smuggling missions counts towards rank, but is not displayed in the in-game trade/smuggling profit statistics

That might just be it. You're 36% of the distance between Entrepreneur and Tycoon in pure trade profit +14% from missions.

CMDR Endincite is correct. There are other income sources that contribute to your trade & exploration ranks. I have reached elite rank and have earned only 11MCr by 'trading', and elite in exploration with only 70MCr earned via 'exploration'.

My primary source of income in the year or so since I bought the game has been passenger missions.
A->B Transport missions contribute to trade
A->B->A Return trips count toward exploration

If you enjoy trading (or exploring) for their own sakes, and the rank is just a by-product that's fine. However, if you are trying to reach elite for trade or exploration quickly you should dump the cargo racks for cabins. You will need another c.600MCr to get from Tycoon to Elite.

For anyone seeking to rank exploration, you can combine the two - take a couple of tour groups to a long range destination and back & do your exploration on the way.

Thanks for the info.

I've been doing trade loops in my Anaconda ever since hitting Entrepreneur and its been a long grind!

My current A-B-A loop (3 jumps each way) is netting me about 2.5M each round trip earning around 1% progress each loop. Once I hit Tycoon its going to take forever to get to Elite so might just give Passenger missions a try for some variety!
