Smuggling yes. Not sure what you mean by ferrying missions.

Yes, any delivery missions will help you rank up, I find the longer ones from Sothis, Robigo and Quince help you rank faster. You'll need to rank up to get the better missions tho so it's a catch 22

Same for mining missions, they also improve trading rank.

This was actually a very nice surprise for me, as I do a decent bit of smuggling.

Now I just wish that courier and salvage missions which require exploration rank would actually help raise said exploration rank.

Kinda wish missions with an explorer rank requirement actually contributed to explorer rank. Not that it would make much sense, but nonetheless.

Anyone have estimates on trading credits vs. trade rank progression?

I do mostly rares with some trade missions and buy/sell independently, and seems like it take roughly 1M credits to gain 1% rank, at least as entrepreneur. Can this be right? Is one type of trading best for ranking? Anyone confirm that distance matters as stated above? I tend to doubt it since rares always means far distances, with such slow progression.

Any thoughts?

My experience was that 1% increments as an Entrepreneur required about 1.5 to 2 million credits of profit. Tycoon increments are taking about 4 to 5 million.
