Trading still useless. no high demand resources ever

So with gamma 1.0 through to about 1.0.2 trading was fine, then evidently it got chipped back and chipped back and now its pretty useless.. I havent found a station within about 12 LY of Sol that has anything in high demand...I think that is very hard to believe...

I mean I know that there was a fix recently about this, but how long will it take to get the market back to something that resembles normal? Should I be hunting haulers indiscriminately so that some of the items I might want to trade will eventually become high demand?

Hauling can be fun, (its mostly boring) but finding the right 2 stations can be hard work, but it should pay off. Trading (like in the real world) should be the thing where most people make their money, there is absolutely no reason to nerf it, if people are happy to grind with trading (with reasonable return which is about 800cr a tonne round trip imho) then so be it... at the moment its just not returning enough for me to want to do it.

The galactic average has dropped SIGNIFICANTLY.
No high demand, anywhere.
Often stations importing certain goods start exporting.

Market simulation at its worse since Gamma release.
Well done Frontier, clap clap clap clap, well done.

On the positive side, bounty hunting is much better! Now we only need a small boost to missions income.

Yeah, haven't seen high demand anywhere. There's barely any incentive to do any trading right now, as it's boring enough as it is.
Supply went from MED to HIGH on a lot of items that I've seen, but demand mainly stayed at MED.

IMO, Trading was actually best in gamma 2.0 when I joined. Good trade routes were hard to find, but possible and profitable with good combos with delivery missions, so trading was quite rewarding.

What Galactic Average has dropped significantly? Because I haven't seen anything of that sort. The stations that I have visited since relase showed the same galactic average as always.

The last patch before release made some changes to the amount the NPCs trade. Before the trade data in the game were pretty useless, because the npc had traded more of the commodities than were in Demand, resulting in some weird things like Extraction sites having demand for Minerals and supplying stuff they didn't produce, simply because the were flooded/sold out by the npc trading.
This has been changed and the market is coming back to what is a stable economy, where the system data actually shows the correct export/import commodities for these systems.
From what I have seen, this has worked rather well and you can now actually use the in-game trade tools.
Profit has been rising and I have been able to get 800 CR/t profit on my routes.
Sure, I just checked the system I am in, and there is no high demand for anything, only medium. But plenty High Supply. I would wait a few more days to see if it goes back to beta profits, if not then the devs will hopefully tweak it a little more.

In my opinion, trading is now way better than it was in Gamma, because it makes sense again and profits have been going up!

I've found that further out its easier to trade by smuggling.

Look for places selling weapons openly with decent supply levels (med or high), then take them to a nearby outpost with a black-market and you're in the money. I've found a reliable 700cr/t route selling personal weapons to a star 6ly away, then taking something like Tea back the other way. Still grinding up to a Type6 but right now in a Cobra its netting about 30K per round-trip.

600 CR/t is not that much. During Beta I used to get 1000 CR/t one way. So 2000 CR/t in a round trip between two systems. Of course over time the profit decreased, but it stayed at least over 800 CR/t. I'm not saying these were easy to find, I had to really search for them and scan a lot of systems, but it was better than it is now.

It's definitely taken a hit with everything I've traded in the last month, I record price changes including fluctuations in the Galactic average and all the ones I've tracked have gone down, especially for items around 5k the Galactic average has dropped by 3-400.

NOTE: I'm at work presently but when I get home I'll post some, pre prices and prices as they are now

It has dropped since Gamma.. but it should fluctuate IMO, its an average after all, but its taken a hit no doubt about it.
These are from different stations, so ignore everything else, but the GA is dropping.

However, you may notice price you can sell Gold here is 9,724, so still profitable for now.

Everyone should ask themselves if they are supposed to become millionaires within a matter of hours or days.
IMHO tranding can still make you a huge amount of money in short time.
I prefer to progress a little slower so not everything is achieved within a matter of weeks.

Still i think that the displayed traderoutes on the galaxymap should be fixed asap. As is its absolutely useless and shows just wrong data.

Roll eyes...

Hi man, during Beta 3 gold averaged at above 10000 per ton.
During gamma gold averaged at about 9700 per ton.
Current galactic average for gold is 9300 credits.

If you are so lucky to find a high supply of gold, you can buy it up at around 8600-8700 credits per tone. Since that is impossible, you are left with profit margins of 200 credits per ton.

Markets are being oversaturate by NPC's and broken beyond believe.

they have dropped significantly, I know the galactic average of most of them(from Gamma) and they have dropped by about 6% on average, which wipes off about 50% of our profits.

Never traded Gold in Gamma, neither do I now and still manage to find 600Cr/t and higher on stuff like tea, Gallium and other stuff.
I don't really have any issues with trading...

Im not bothering with standard markets at the moment.

I can break even with bounty hunting (Python running costs are frakkin insane) and over the course of a day load up with rares and then make a couple of million quid on a big rares run when im full.

The markets are as dull as hell at the moment. There is no point in exploring because you are just wasting your time for the most part.

Just yesterday i found a route that makes me 100k in less then 5 minutes (flying an ASP with max cargo).
You just have to go and look and note prices.

Idunno, the average might be dropping but that could be either sell or buy. I have found several round trips with >1000/t each way since launch and am trading just fine.

I made 90k yesterday evening in a few hours...seems about right. After all, if I managed to make a million in a day when I just restarted from scratch I'd be pretty disappointed. After all, the last thing I want is to be flying around in a supervehicle with an Elite ranking within the first month.

Was in high demand stations last night - look and you shall find

Screenshot or it never happened

To be clear though, I think trading is ok, much better overall than the mess it was pre-release... but perhaps a small tweak is still needed..
I am still seeing some odd issues myself, consumers becoming suppliers etc, but generally its improved a lot.

---Additional content----

I think the background simulation part is still able to send huge quantities to a station which previously imported it but now has excessive amounts, which in turn makes them want to sell it off, even though they are listed on that very screen as importing the item. I have seen a few of these last night alone and this was a big problem before release IMO, much more widespread than it seems to be now.

I recently found a station with a extremely high export and cheap production of all most minerals and all metals, with several high demand systems nearby... its down south, but the market sim is working... markets do this depending on what people are doing. EvE online experienced many huge market price crashes, did anyone suggest it was broken? it might seem extreme at the moment, and does likely need tuning but it is working.

Lots of people say "YAY i can get gold here and make nearly 1000 profit per tonne!" and proceed to do so along with hundreds of others... what do you expect the markets to do?
