Newcomer / Intro Trading Supply and Demand Numbers

Hello,

I have a question,

When trading there are numbers showing availability and demand.

Yet I bring in 100 Tons of a certain type of cargo over and over and I do not see the numbers change at all. Can someone explain this please?

If there is a 1000 demand for gold does that mean the station needs 1000 tons of gold or is it just an arbitrary number?

Also, How fast are the numbers updated hourly? Daily?

It feels like I am not helping anyone when I come into the station with my cargo... I want to come in and go "Yeah, Geawwnki Needed 200 tons of food and gosh darn it I supplied it!"

Now it just feels like I am just flying about not effecting anything at all?

Hi,

Firstly you need to remember that it is not just you trading. There are other human players and the AI ships that are trading as well. So you won't always see a direct representation of your trade. However, you will notice the difference when you start trading 400 tons per trip; the demand/supply and prices are affected very quickly

But when I go to a station that has a demand of 17 for Coffee, and I sell them 18 tons of Coffee, the demand still says 17.

Supply changes immediately with player purchases, however demand does not for whatever reason. It does change over time, it just seems to update much more slowly.
