Trading system map... some dumb questions maybe!

Dear commanders...

I'm expecting I'm not getting the trading system pips to sytem commander as clear as it should be.

What happened: Well, I landed on a station, and had a look at the map's trading. I checked only ONE good, let's say Fish (maybe wrong for the example here). Woooot boosting... What the Hell?!*%£@# ...commander please, watch your language....
So, fish, shows up a route lightning going from MY place to the place I'd like to jump to Jumping engaged commander. So I embark Fish, and jump Jumping engaged commander to that station on the new system. Now, it's where I'm lost: it happened that FISH isn't even bought there (anymore?!).

Now, am I doing something wrong? Can't you just buy a good and sell it at the place the trading route is lightning into its direction?

Are you sure it was 'fish' and that the glowing trail mvoed from your starting system to the destination and not the other way around? And could it have been some other 'food' group? Because otherwise that is how it works AFAIK.

For instance from Eranin to I Bootis you can sell coffee very well. To figure this out I would uncheck all goods then select the categories one at a time to see which of those are traded from my current system, then I would select the one category I am interested in and unselect all it's goods then select the goods one by one to see which has the biggest 'trail'.

done all that. I just took 'fish' as for an example, but it was that one GOOD, and for sure I unchecked all others around, just left one good (from the one group).... well, maybe a bug. happend once so far, will try it tonight again and insist more about.
