Community Event / Creation Trading Tips and Tricks: How to patiently get rich.

There's always something that hits every commander the moment they step in game. You want to fly one of the baddest ships out there, like the Anaconda or the Type 9 Heavy. But you are in no hurry and you want to rid yourself from in-game financial crisis or just to let time pass by until something interesting hits.

You ask: How do I get rich but I'm in no hurry at all?

Trading commodities from station to station blind folded is really difficult if you don't know what you're doing.

Here's a tip in guiding your career as a commodity trader.
There's a tool called eddb.io or Elite Dangerous Database
You can also search it on your web browser out of game.

The trick I'm about to show you on the commodities section on eddb will tell you the basic statistics of each item per ton. For example I will click on Basic Medicines, now you see that the numbers are at default and seperated by 2 types called buy and sell orders.

On the buy and sell order tabs click on Profits, on the buy orders you want the cheapest price available. Also pay attention to the supply and demand tabs of that item.

On the example image below will provide statistical analysis of Basic Medicines available on eddb.

This is my first time providing helpful content to those who are new or somewhat new.
I hope this helps.

Maybe I can add something.

You need to calculate the "money/time" factor regarding the EXACT "station leave point" to "station landing" an back.
It does make sense to make much lesser profit per unit if the full tour *** a) Buying b) Starting c) Hyperjump d) Landing on platform + selling e) re-jump f) landing and BUYING again*** = (a to f)
makes you more money.

After 13 months I only prefer stations that are very close to the entry point for selling. That part is the MOST important aspect in trading.
Since the max profit is sadly cut to more or less 4500+ per unit the only interesting aspect is how fast you can sell and rebuy (a-f) the full load.

The jackpot is a tour that makes you 4500+ per unit per circle in under 7 minutes. Depending a lot on your flying skills.

Using an Imperial Cutter with 720 units fright capacity it can make you...lets calculate...720x4500 every 7 minutes as long as you don't fall asleep.

Now let us do the maths for some normal setting.

We buy cheap Slaves for 13000 and sell them for 16000.
This is 3000 per unit.

There are plenty hops you can buy and sell at this profit.

Let us say you find a nice route that takes 12 minutes full circle with a 100 unit ship.
You will make 300.000 Credits every 12 minutes.

You MIGHT find a planet to buy slaves for 11600 and a planetary settlement to sell them for 16600.

But this might take you 3 jumps and 2 landing procedures for a total of 36 minutes full circle.

You make 5000 Credits per unit thus 500.000 Credits in 36 minutes.
While the other tour makes you 900.000 Credits at the same time with only 3000 Credits per unit.

The rather dull trading is the reason why I became a mercenary at the end.
I can get 25.000.000 (25 Million per job) for 108 ships I shoot down in war zones.

I am able to kill up to 50 ships in about 20 minutes before I have to reload my weapons.
Usually it is around 30 or 40.
Nevertheless I will get my 25 Millions in 1 hour.

In addition the fraction is happy and I have a lot of fun shooting down so many ships.

Edit: the 23-25 Millions credits is the reward only. You have to add the bonus for the single ships at the contact menu. Depending on the type of warzone it is 3-6 Million in addition for 108 ships.

Heh, I remember when space truckers ruled from the top of money mountain back in the early days. I started out as a bounty hunter, but it made so little that I got into AB trading just to be able to afford cannon ammo and hull repairs - eventually that became my main occupation and bounty hunting got to be my hobby. Now, a few buff/nerf cycles later the pendulum has swung the other way and people trade just for the zen of it.
