Trading with other players and storage.

I would like to see the ability to directly trade with other players, either in station or outside (preferably both). I am sure the original Elite had the ability to trade with computer generated players. Also storage in stations is a must for this game for salvage, minerals, commodity’s ect ect.

You can trade with other people. You just have to scoop the cargo. Limpets could help you with collecting the cargo.

Now did the original Elite have a ability trade with other ships. I don't think so. I played it for about 4 years. Not sure on Elite II or Elite III.

I get your point.

But, what I would like to do Is pay someone for something and the other way round.

I would like to trade in stations with other players. (now that's trading). My guess is there is very little trading between players if the only way is through limpet collection. I honestly believe there would be a huge increase in player interaction if this was possible.

Think of docking and seeing what other players have for sale in the station, being able to pay and fit the item, or sell your ore or commodity's to others. it would be a whole new area.

What do you mean by paying. If it with Credit. I say no. The only reason I say this is it give a reason for Gold Sellers to come to Elite Dangerous and ruin game play for us.

What gold seller are people who Mine, Collect goods and such and do work for other people for real money.

The lack of ability to trade with players in my opinion totally breaks the crafting mechanism. For example in current version of Elite you have three main ranks, combat, explored and trader, but if you could be able to sell crafted modules you could be new type of player - The Crafter. This will open new areas of gameplay and it will make Elite much more deep than it is know. Gold sellers wont be a problem in Elite, there is no real competition in ED so no one will spent their money on gold. Even if someone will buy "gold/credit" it wont impact other players.

It is worth to mention that there are many solutions in mmorpgs to prohibit gold selling like normalized auction house prices (Black Desert) limited time for player trading (Elder Scrolls Online). Frontier just need to some time to create backend and frontend for trading...

I took the following from the Elite Dangerous advert,

Do whatever it takes to earn the skill, knowledge, wealth and power to stand among the ranks of the Elite. Travel through the galaxy between giant starport trading hubs, where you can buy new ships, trade, take on missions and upgrade your spacecraft.

My game experience feels lacking in trading, either I have missed something huge or its just not there.

Do you think the consensus here among commanders about trading is

A, Trading is all it needs to be.

B, Could be expanded to player to player trading with station storage.

C, Could be expanded to player to player trading with station storage but should not be due to the risk of gold sellers?

I ask these questions not to bait or troll any commander, but to try and tease out input from anyone looking through this forum. I would also invite some form of input from any Devs if possible to there thoughts and experience here (there is always a bigger picture that we the user may not be aware of)

Obviously the Open game would be better with ship-to-ship docking and optional trading of everything tradeable: credits, cargo, materials, fuel, ammo, AFMU ammo, SRVs, SLFs, even access to other ships' AFMU facilities, or trading of actual ship modules or ships themselves.

Such facilities would be most obviously useful for explorers and Fuel Rats in deep space, thousands of light-years from the nearest station facility.

And then Engineering of upgraded ships, for sale to players who can't be bothered to collect the mats themselves could become another career path.

If players are going to be flying in each other's ships in Multi-crew, why not be able to trade them altogether?

Had thoughts along similar lines, think about it deeper how would you ensure that any player to player trading would stay within game and not find its way on to ebay or similar.."for sale - fully engineered 6A FSD" etc....
