Trading?

I cant seem to understand how tradeing is so profitable. Maybe i dont understand it enough. I have watched videos on the subject but cant seem to figure out how it makes millions. I have enough for a type 6 and maybe that would make the difference. Anyone have any suggestions or tips. I would greatly appreciate it

Trade rares, or Imperial slaves in the Empire - find a good trade circuit (needs some work to establish). Good runs can be things like medical supplies or specialized technology to extraction/refinery systems, lucrative metals from extractors to refineries or industrials, etc.
A million an hour in a T6 is very possible.
Try installing Slopey's BPC (unless you feel it is against your principles) to find good markets others have discovered. If you do decide to use it, contribute data as well.

It's quite simple really - bigger cargohold = bigger profit. My trading rank is "mostly penniless" and I got it from doing 3 trade runs in an Adder (I think it was an Adder, or maybe something else that was cheap). I filled as many slots as I could with cargo bays and I had 24 slots for cargo. I found a route with two stations three jumps apart. I made 24k on the way from system A to system D, and 18k on the way back from system D to system A. I was making 1k profit per ton on the way there, about 700 credits per ton on the way back.

If I'd had 50 cargo slots then I would've 50k on the way there and 36k on the way back.

If I'd had 100 slots I'd have made 100k on the way there and 70k on the way back.

If I had 100 slots and I found a lucrative trade route, I can easily see how people make millions per trip. My route was so basic I literally just looked where they exported to, picked the nearest system and transported some stuff there. It's boring as hell though, so I do bounty hunting in RES's to get my cash.

To start, the Great Horned Owl is indeed great. I'm not so sure about a great owl. Perhaps you could be more specific.

IMHO, to make millionz trading, you need that T6. That will get you a T7 or Clipper, which will get you a Python, and lead to a T9 and a Conda. At least, that's how it worked for me. I never used rares, seeking lux, or Thrudds.

There's lots of guides out there (Ydiss?), but search the Gal for a Wealthy, Very large pop industrial. Then find the other end of a one or two jump trade route. That will keep you in the trades even when you get your Conda.

And why is the rum always gone?

edit* I have $430M in trading profit, FWIW.

I have just started my trading career! Until now, I had a total of 2M Cr in trading. Over the past day, I'm at almost 10M. I fly gold one was and resonating separators on the way back. Total is 2500 for round trip. My Clipper holds 216T, I could add more cargo spots, but I don't. My trip is 4 jumps. Look for mining and high tech planets.
