Trading

Hi,

I've some difficulties to understand how to find profitable trades. For example, I've to bring some commodity to a given spatioport. On the galaxy map, I display only the routes for the commondity I'm looking for. I've found one system from which many arrows emerge, so I think it would be a good place to purchase that commodity, but in fact there is no way to actually buy that commodity and on the system map it even shows that that system is actually importing that commodity. So I'm a bit loss in the way we can find what we are looking for.

Any advice?

Don't use the galaxy map :/.

instead use the import from / export to status on the commodities screen, better yet record for yourself sources of high supply and destinations of high demand.

sounds like you basically got it.

In the market there is a galaxy average so that helps as well. Selling where there is a lot of that item being imported is usually (but not always) the bet.
also sometimes the news gives some clues.
Finally...I decided not to trade at first because either the cr profit for 4 items is not enough OR I need to risk all my money on one load. I plan to look more into it later.

Buy below the galactic average. Sell above it. Fly around a lot.

Other than that, you can write down stations you visit a lot and what they have in either high demand or high supply, and try to find other stations where that matches, but in reverse for demand/supply. Thats what I do. It does not take to long to find a match, usually you can find a good route between half a dozen or so stations pretty easily.

The 3rd party tools can be helpful too if you don't mind using those, its up to you if you find those to be cheating or immersion breaking.

Great thanks to all of you for your help. For sure I would like to avoid the use of those external market tools like Slopey. I think I will have to write down where there is a lot of supply/demand.

Thank you again!
