Traditional Mining in Hotspots is worth it

In 2 hours, I got 30 tons of Low Temperature Diamonds in a hotspot, using just a couple of good old mining lasers. Got plenty of other materials as well, but 30 tons is the biggest haul I've got of a Girl's best friend.

Hotspots are worth it, regardless of how you choose to mine. [up]

1.5 hours in my T10 netted me 189 tonnes of Painite in a hot spot, primarily surface mining but also included 1 deep core and a few surface deposits.

The Galactic Average is not the best indicator of price. I know a place right now were I can sell Opal for over a million per ton. And diamonds for around 700k

That's not terrible then, but still a factor 10 below what can be achieved legitimately (no cheese, relog etc) with other means. But mining now sounds like fun, in contrast to these other high payout alternatives.

30 tonnes of LTD's will net you around 30 million if you sell at the right place. I am getting 250,000 per tonne at my current location, still a massive payout if you are using a 400 tonne capacity mining ship.

Could have sold it for more if I went to a Boom system, I didn't due to lack of time and I wanted to end my experiment.
