Traffic control actually working?

Is it my imagination, but are the NPCs now obeying the lights when entering/leaving the stations? I routinely enter on the green side and I never meet an NPC ship coming the other way. I remember some comments by Sarah Jane Avory (which I can't now find) to the effect that she was trying to tidy up the behaviour of the AI around stations, so that may explain it.

If the NPC's are behaving themselves that means the major collision risk is from commanders ignoring the lights and boosting through! Perhaps the high-speed collision penalty will help.

I believe this was added in to the game recently. There's actually no rule about it, but as people decided to fly that way the AI got the rule added in.

High speed ? 100 m/s isn't what I would call high speed. In game only of course. A several hundred tons real life ship going at 360 km/h would be pretty damn fast.

yeah i to have noticed that... and adders seem to enter "upside down" compared to other ships.... though the type 9's are still slot hogs ...

Not sure, I have mostly seen them grind to a halt or mash themselves against the toastrack. Making it in or out of the letterbox at all is a cause for celebration. I have been fined repeatedly for loitering/trespass, after NPC T9s have wedged themselves in the letterbox.

Several times over the weekend, I have lifted off, and been bombarded by laser fire, as the in' station tried to clear a broken NPC out. I had to put full pips to shields and boost out to avoid being fried. Even though the NPCs are alledgedly getting more fixes in 1.3, i suspect that the mechanics of station defenses could use a look- to at least make them smarter regarding friendly fire.

Wait until you see a panther clipper coming through....

But yes, T9's can't hug the wall much, perhaps some smaller ships can come through on the sides at the same time, like the T6, but that's about it.

I wasn't talking about that. T9s failing to make it in or out on their own is more the problem that troubles me. It's not pretty.

Going as far back as Beta, Docking computer and AI would follow a simple rule, ship will always orientate so the green light is to the right (Starboard) Large ships had priority.

Only big change from the last patch was the DC and AI will also try to keep the entire ship to the right of the docking entrance. Am sure Sarah also added a bunch of other tweaks under the hood, most noticeable is full pips to shields for the DC, I assume AI does the same now.
