I really hope that they implement this model, best as an optional details setting for high-end PCs.
Yes, I agree with that, I would love that level of detail as well.
But a big mistake FD can make is to not clearly communicate to the public what is in-game and what not.
There are other games that made this mistake as well, one of the most bad ones for the developers and sales was "Alien: Colonial Marines" the trailers had an amazing level of detail, nice light and everything and the final product? Looked like done 6 years ago.
Watch that video that compares the versions. If you would compare the ED trailer with the current in-game content it would be the same like this video. I can see the same happening to ED if there are no clarifications in an early stage.
It's only a problem if they can deliver that in the final game...and since they will...well![]()
It's only a problem if people take issue with it after the final game is released. It's actually standard practice, just about every games developer does it. The advertising standards authority did say that games companies had to say "not actual gameplay footage" when advertising games on UK TV.
I kind of think the video isn't that far off in game footage though. It just has full LOD on the models and some different lighting. The ship models look pretty normal, all of the little details (the cars, the animations on the thrusters etc. look like they are coming right out of the game as usual)
