Training mission control scheme issue?

Hi,

Not sure if this should be put as a bug report yet in case I've done something stupid...

In my main game I've customised my controls quite a bit (specifically what each stick does movement wise). When I switched the game on yesterday I decided to first go back into the advanced combat training to see if I could complete it now my flying is better. When I loaded into the mission and started engagement and I realised the controls had reverted back to the default scheme again.

I checked control options and my mapped controls were still showing correctly, but the mission seems to override them.

Is this a design decision (to ensure a novice doesn't map things totally wrong for the mission), or a bug I should be flagging?

Cheers

P.S. I'm obviously going to blame this for my inability to kill the two backup ships and complete the mission, it couldn't possibly be my lack of talent :p

I don't believe it you, I spent 16 hours in training and only succeded in falling out of super cruise 4 times correctly. And though i was never able to engage the landing gear myself, the game did it 3 times. All the while I thought it was my inexperience, so I kept trying and trying and trying. Finaly had enough, went into solo, and my landing gear now works when I want and exiting super cruise is right on the money.

So, the training mode has major issues, that a noob believes are theirs. My suggestion is to go to solo and practice, the hell with the training mode.

UPDATE

This morning I attempted to fallout of supercruise again just to see if a frest start would work. I fell out perfect and when I chose. Though my landing gear is still not avilable. As I sat there patting myself on the back for finally getting the exiting from supercruise correctly, I noticed that I was not at the same place I had to to get to yesterday for 16 hours. It's amazing how it works well when you have the correct destination and not one that is spelled simular. At any rate, I've switched now to solo, and my landing gear issues are gone. I stepped into open for a couple of minutes just to see what's it's like. I can tell you with certainteed, it's much blacker in solo.

for landing gear, hold the symbol button, then press directional buttons. (afaik the game uses red circle+ down)
like.. press O-> wait a second->press down

DONT press them at the same time

if you hold those for longer the game pops up a very useful little holo with your key bindings even.0

This happened to me too when i started to play after doing training missions. And if i remember right, game also said im in a solo mode although i was in open mode for sure.

I agree, the basic training is invaluable just to get your head around the basic launch/fly/dock routine but I've done most of my learning in the 8 hours or so in the black. To be fair I feel pretty confident with all the various flying/supercruising/docking/etc... now, I just wanted to go back and do the training to sharpen my combat skills and annoyingly it seems I can't use the custom control scheme I've got used to.
