Newcomer / Intro Training mission help - incursion

Hello

I am unable to complete the incursion training mission. The issue is simple; The first couple of enemy ships are easy, but then the enemy is getting more advanced and are always sitting behind me. No matter how I turn, they are always behind me and I can't get a lock-on. I just keep spinning around until my ship explodes, because they have been blasting my back the whole time. It's getting a bit annoying.

I'm on Xbox One. I've captured a video of the issue:

Any tips for this?

Was just about to go to sleep when I saw no one had answered..urghh

..basically the ship you are flying is less manoeuvrable than the enemy ship...it is however equipped with more firepower and is much more durable, therefore you want to face tank it to take advantage of it's relative strengths

Try getting some distance by boosting away then using reverse..I'm not generally a fan of this technique, but it will work here!

Also, try to use the pips for systems, engines & weapons ie - when being fired upon, four pips to 'sys' (this improves shield strength markedly); when manoeuvring to get position, more pips to 'eng' and when the target is in your sights, pips to 'wep' - the combo & number of pips in each needed will depend on many factors but trial & error is the best way to figure this out!

Good luck & go kick that sidey's butt cmdr! o7

Yaaawwwwwnnnnn - finally bed time!

^^those are the advises I would give, as well. Throttle in blue and occasional reverse to get your target in front of you.
Also I'd recommend going to Elite Dangerous official youtube channel and watch the Guides (you can also access some of them via the training menu. (Unless there's something different, there, for Xbox)

But if you don't complete this training, don't beat yourself over it too much. If you have basics (traveling, navigation, ship operations,...) you can easily just hop into the main game. Most NPCs you meet from the start are as tough as these ones, actually.
Stay in the Sidewinder for first couple of hours, because dying in it is free, while dying in a ship that is upgraded or simply other than the starter Sidey cost insurance money. And just go wild and try things. Combat, trading, basic exploration of nearby systems, all can be done in the starter ship and you'll get the hang of things much faster than from repeating one training mission. :)

Keep this channel open and ask questions as they will emerge. (And I can guarantee there will be a lot of them)

This has already been established in previous threads.

When constructed, the incursion mission was doable. Since then general and combat mechanics have vastly changed, and the bottom line is that the Asp you are given with that frankly diabolically useless pile of rubbish stain of a loadout just can't crack it.
